Hostage
By Angel Kamiya
It happened quickly. Han was sitting at the table drinking and waiting for Leia, when everything went to hell. Before Leia could get back to where she had been sitting, a brown helmeted men grabbed her arm. He took out a blaster and pointed it at the side of her head. His bearded friend rushed to his side and pulled out his blaster.
Without thinking Han pushed the table over and got behind it, using it as a shield for blaster fire. Everyone that had been sitting near him had started running away from him.
"Give up!" The helmeted man yelled.
Han sat there with his back to the table, and his hands holding the blaster.
"Let her go!" Han yelled.
"Throw out your blaster! Hands in the air. Nice and slow."
"You don't have to hurt her!" Han answered, trying to think of a way out of that mess.
Han reluctantly put the BlasTech onto the floor, and kicked away with his feet. Slowly getting up, he put his hands over his head.
Taking one look at Leia, he saw that she was worried but had not started panicking. That was good. What was going to happen next was going to require her help.
"You're coming with us," the bounty hunter sneered.
"I don't think so. I'd rather not be your prisoner today. Everyone listen! I'm Han Solo!"
The people around them started muttering. Several of those that had quickly backed away from him were now starting to get closer, trying to get a good look at him.
"Jabba the Hutt and The Empire have put up huge rewards to anyone who captures me alive. Enough to buy a good ship. Enough to get off this stupid rock."
Nothing happened.
Suddenly, there was a loud sound. Someone watching had pulled out a weapon and fired, hitting the helmeted man's partner in the shoulder. He went down with a scream. Seconds later the entire cantina was filled with shots going off. Leia elbowed the person that had taken her hostage, knocking him back a few steps.
Han tossed himself forward onto the ground and grabbed his gun. He raised the BlasTech.
There was an small explosion as the bolt of energy hit bounty hunter's chest, turning his flesh black. He fell and he didn't move when he hit the ground. Without thinking Han ran forward and grabbed Leia by the hand. They needed to get out of there fast! Leia didn't need to be told that and went with him.
Han heard yelling and blaster fire all around him, but he didn't pay attention to any of that. Instead he was concerned with getting out of there alive. He almost ran into someone that was trying to stop him. Han punched the man in the face, sending him to the ground.
When they were finally outside, they jumped into the landspeeder that they had rented for the day. It was very hot that afternoon. As he started the vehicle, Han felt Leia's hand being put on his arm.
"Thanks Han. That was some quick thinking, using their greed against them."
"We aren't out of this yet, sweetheart."
Han was already driving the landspeeder away. Looking back, he saw that there several people from the bar were chasing after him. They were all in old and battered landspeeders or swoop bikes. It wouldn't be long before they caught up with the two of them. Han didn't want to think about what they would do to him when they did.
Leia knew that they had managed to get out of the cantina alive, but it wasn't over yet. There was still the fact that they needed to get back to the Millennium Falcon in one piece. If there was one thing she could count on, it was Han having some kind of plan. They would get out of this alive like they always did.
