Hello!
For any of you wondering, my muse has just come back from a short break, so I will have more DocTAR stories up soon. In the meantime, here's an 11/River oneshot that I wrote a while ago. It's just a bit of fun, so I hope you like it. I like the Doctor being all awkward and trying to do date-y things...
I don't think there are any serious spoilers for anything, unless you don't know much about the Doctor or River, in which case you might want to come back later. There's also nothing worse than a suggestive line or two in terms of inappropriateness.
Anyway, here it is! Enjoy!

Nightclothes
"Happy Birthday, River Song," the Doctor said, beaming widely. He had put on his favorite festive bow-tie, and was wearing a rainbow colored fez.
River looked up from the slitheen skeleton she had been excavating, and raised a quizzical eyebrow. "Doctor?" she asked, smiling. "It's not my birthday, Sweetie."
"Oh, right, of course," the Doctor said, bouncing on the balls of his feet. "But I wasn't sure if I'd get the date right, so I figured I'd be safe."
"Well thank you," River said, wiping her dusty hands off on her jodhpurs.
"I got you a present," the Doctor said proudly. "It's... well, I guess the whole point is that it's a surprise, isn't it?" He held out a white box with seven different ribbons wrapped enthusiastically around it. "Go on," he said, resuming his bouncing, "open it River-Melody-Pond-Song!"
"Someone had chocolate for breakfast again, didn't he?" River said dryly. She took the present from the suddenly sheepish Doctor's hands and stared at it. "It's not another bow-tie, is it?" She asked.
"Another? No, nothing of the sort. Actually it's, well, erhm, actually it's some... ah... nightclothes." The last was said in a smugly confidential whisper. The Doctor was obviously very pleased with himself for this brilliant idea.
"Oh, Sweetie!" River cried, a smile lighting up her face. "Thank you!" It was a welcome surprise that the Doctor was far enough along in his timeline to be giving such intimate gifts. She tore at the seven ribbons eagerly, rather frustrated to see that the Doctor had been adorable again and had knotted each one with something different and complex.
At long last, however, she had it open. She just shook her head as she saw that the gift had been packed with buttered popcorn, willow fronds, tissues, bits of multicolored foam rubber, and other bits of soft and squishy odds and ends. Not wanting to disappoint him, however, she said nothing.
Until, that is, she dug through the packing and found her present. "Nightclothes?" she sighed as she pulled out some purple and yellow flowered fleece out of the box.
"Footie pajamas!" The Doctor explained jubilantly. "They're like pajamas and slippers at the same time. So you never have to worry about losing one or the other. Aren't they an amazing invention? I tell you, those humans..."
"Oh, Doctor," River said, laughing despite herself, "I'm sure they'll be very... comfy. Although I can't help but wonder if you ever learned the purpose of giving nightclothes..." The Doctor just looked confused, so she kissed him lightly. "Thank you, Sweetie."
