Ghosts

She watched them silently, light pink lips relaxed into a straight line as she rested her chin against her fist. She sat across from the couple, in a plush armchair that was far too sophisticated and dark for her tastes. She ran her fingers across the soft fabric, and felt her fingers slightly tingle, as she jerked them away. Their conversation was slowly turning into a kissing party.

She rose gently from the upholstry as she watched her lost lover wrap his arms around her look-alike. It was almost too much.

She reached out a ghostly pale hand towards him, and in the depths of her cloudy blue eyes was sorrow, regret, want. Sharply she pulled her hand backwards, when he turned his head and looked around blindly. She was there, she knew it, and yet she wasn't.

She was a ghost.

Kagome was her name. Only weeks ago had she departed the mortal realm, and yet here she was, bound to it by her one true love. And there he was, already healed, with another woman--her lookalike--Kikyou. She shook lightly, clutching closer to her a thin shift.

The breeze ruffled her raven hair, and it contrasted so much with her skin--if you could see her--she looked almost transparant. A spector, if you will.

"Kikyou...I have this weird feeling," stated Inu-Yasha, pulling himself from the woman and raising up into a sitting position, while rubbing his arms.

"Not still thinking about that dead girl, are you?" Snapped Kikyou, straightening her ruffled business coat with a huff. "You should get over her and move on." Inu-Yasha's eyes immediately downcasted. "I'll be downstairs when you want to apologise to me." Kikyou stated, although in a softer voice. She detangled herself from the sheets on the bed, and touched Inu-Yasha lightly on the head as she left.

Inu-Yasha lifted his head from his hands. "Kagome, wherever you are...I'm sorry. I have to move on." Kagome caught her breath, almost immediately feeling that agonizing betrayal. "You always knew how I felt about having someone with me...especially you..." he looked down at this point. "And Kikyou's a good person, really. She looks just like you, you know. But...you probably do."

His gaze travelled to the door, as did Kagome's.

"I love you." he stood, looked around the room and exited quickly. Kagome's shaking form lowered to the ground, and she buried her face into her arms and cried, cried out: "I love you, Inu-Yasha!"

End

A/N: You could ultimately blame this on me watching "Ju-On" one too many times. But the "I love you's" in both my endings? I'unno. My sad, sad love life?
