Just a goodbye…
Slowly the man approached the playground, where a woman stood clutching a hand bag and a dark, wooden stick. If it wasn't for a sudden movement the moment before the man could have mistaken the standing figure for a mannequin. The man, Severus Snape, was skinny and tall. His nose was crooked and his axel length hair was very dark and greasy. But the latter couldn't be seen in the dark playground. As he walked slowly towards the woman he could see how every muscle in her body prepared, for running or fighting, and how she clutched the wand harder in her hand. She breathed fast and loud, even if Severus could tell she tried not to make any sound at all.
Finally he reached the terrified woman who stood glancing back at him, not sure whether she should run for it or stay where she were. He was now so close that he could feel her heavy breath touching his face. And it stroke his cheeks nicely…softly… the breath he had been longing to feel. He took a deep breath and reached out for the woman with his own hand, but she was too fast and ran backwards. As Severus didn't move he saw her silhouette disappear in the dark.
"I know you're there Lily. Please, come back", he said, begging, "I won't hurt you, you know it!"
A voice broke the silence that was left after Severus last word:
"How could I possibly trust you. You, who joined him, Severus! You knew it would end like this. You knew it years ago, who are you trying to fool?"
She could not see the pain in Severus face. But even if she would, would she care? He had betrayed them. He was the one to blame.
But nothing more had to be said. Severus could not force her to him by his wand. But another sort of magic mad her appear again out of the darkness. She faced him and studied his face carefully as she approached him once again. Her face was less tense; still she watched him seriously. When she was close she walked back a few steps again.
"I missed you too, Severus", she whispered, "but you must know it doesn't make any difference."
And as she turned to leave she felt his hand around her wrist, pulling her back.
Carefully he pushed his lips against her and she let him.
But as fast as they, once again, separated she turned away to never see him again.
