Hey, I was working with my father on his bread route and he pulled out his back. Hes about 40 something and that day I realized that he is getting old. so I wrote this about Kurama and his mother as sort of a venting thing.

So read, and let me know allright?

Kurama was working at his book store when it happened. He had just opened it up and his sales sky rocketed. For only being open only a week yet, he was doing extremely well, though there was a down side. He was working almost 70 hours this week. He needed help; the store had just gotten to be too much for him to handle on his own.

Kurama refused to heir other people to work for him who just wanted to work for the money. He wanted someone who would enjoy the job just as much as he did, who would know the store front to back, and who would more than willingly help people who looked like they could use a little guidance whether it be with books or life.

The book loving fox was working the register with a long line of people behind it. One after one he would scan the books, smile, and watch the person leave. There was this one little girl and her mother who wanted to buy a children's book. Kurama scanned it to be $4.99 and the mother's expression changed from happy to almost nervous. She looked down at her child who smiled up at her with happy squinted eyes. She looked back at Kurama and gave a feint smile.

She picked up her black purse and started searching for it, it was ripped and scratched in a few places and the band was snapped. She pulled out three dollars and placed them on the counter then started looking again. She found a nickel and two pennies and put them with the rest of her money.

"Come on lady! Move it!" Yelled a young man that was a while back in the line. The women began to search more franticly and dropped her purse making the rest of the contents fall out. "Oh great, now it'll take even longer! I got places to go lady!" He yelled again.

Kurama removed himself from the register and went to help the women. He brought the children's book with him and handed it to the little girl along with the three dollars and seven cents. He realized that perhaps this little family was poor or maybe just didn't have enough money with them at the moment. Once the women's things where all picked up she stood and faced Kurama. "We can't take this without paying for it." She had said.

Kurama smiled at her. "Yes you can. My store does just fine and one little book will not make a major difference. So take it, think of it as a gift." The little girl smile at him and hugged his leg.

"Thanks mister." The fox patted her on the head and told her you're welcome. The girl went back to her mother who picked her up and carried her on her hip. They headed to the exit and the little girl waved goodbye and said thanks again. Kurama smiled to himself, he had made another person's day better. He moved to the register and started working again.

A few more minuets later and the phone that sat on the counter rang. "Please excuse me for a moment." He reached over and picked up the phone. He states the name of his book store and says 'how may I be of service?'

"Shuichi? This is Sue, I'm calling from the hospital, I'm afraid we have bad news." Her voice became more slow and sounded sad. "Your mothers back in the hospital again."

So thats it for the first chapter. Its really short but I had to do something.

To my father: Thanks for everything and I hope you live to be a million years old!

Please review and tell me if there is anyone out there who has grown old that makes you sad. Maybe it'll help allright? I'll update when I can.
