Note: This is set a few days after Robin leaves the team. Not Yaoi. I repeat, not Yaoi. No slash. No relationship stuff at all. Angst. And death.
The sun rose over Gotham.
This sun was a strange thing. Bringing light to a place where all light had been lost. The crime rate in Gotham was the highest in the country.
And still, the sun rose.
Tim Drake stepped out from his house. It was probably the only break he'd ever get.
He had quit Young Justice, and broken off from the Bat. In a matter of speaking.
So what would Tim do?
Mope around the house?
Hell no.
He was going Bandit, Reynolds style!
Tim stepped onto the train, high above the street. Mmkay, now where am I going to go. Let's see...let's see....comic shop? Nah, already picked up the latest X-Men. Videogame shop? Nah, already picked up GTA3. Mmm...GTA3. That sounds tempting. Nah, never mind that. Nightclub! Yeah, I'll go to a nightclub. Wait, it's the beginning of the day. Damn. Scratch that. Where was Tim going to go? Nowhere, by the looks of it. The train was already moving, so Tim followed it wherever.
The train went around a sharp curve.
Let's review the facts.
A: Trains cannot do sharp curves.
B: If a train leans on one side for too long, it will topple.
C: A rock is on the left track on the curve.
A + B + C = Accident
The train went around the sharp curve. The train hit the rock, and sent it on one side. The passengers stumbled as the train stood on one side, but the Boy Wonder managed to keep his footing. The passengers waited for the train to realign, but it didn't.
The train fell. It hung over the edge. All the passengers fell down, and tried to find a footing. Tim's YJ communicator turned on as pressure was applied to the switch.
Tim didn't have his costume. Nor did he have any gadgets. Only thing he could cry was..."Help!"
In Happy Harbor
Superboy was bored.
Not just bored---really bored.
He was so bored he was going to try playing Bart's Playtendo.
Suddenly, a cry was heard.
"Help!"
I heard you crying out,
Superboy tuned into the call. It was coming from a signal in Gotham.
All the way across town, Thing is, who would have a YJ communicator and need help? Superboy thought to himself, as he raced through the choices.
It clicked.
Robbie Kon thought, and took off to the sky.
You been searching for that someone and its me out on the prowl,
As you sit around feeling sorry for yourself
Kon arrived at the train, and began to pull people out, 5 by 5. No sign of Robin.
So don't get lonely now,
And dry your crying eyes
Kon got delayed for a moment when there were 6 passengers left.
I'm just roaming for the moment,
Sleazin' my backyard so don't get,
So uptight you been thinking about ditching me,
Kon stopped looking for Robin, and took the remaining 5 out.
No time to search the world around,
Kon went back to get the last person, when the train fell. He had one look at the final passenger when he realized his mistake, and flew as fast as he could.
Cause you know where I'll be found,
When I come around.
Kon flew, flew to save Tim's life.
"We are gathered here to remember the life of Timothy Drake."
Those 10 words brought back a world of pain to Kon-El. Eye streaming with tears, let himself go.
Others mourned.
When I come around,
When I come around,
When I come around....
