Professor Brown sat in her office feeling sorry for herself. After the war she saw how happy Ron and Hermione were together, but she still longed to have Ron for herself. So she waited, waited for Ron to come back to her, but it never happened. Now she was a lonely Divination Professor.
She was feeling even more hurt today because it was September first and she had decided to take the express to Hogwarts, as she did as a child. While she was sitting alone in the teacher's compartment, she looked out her window. What she saw sent a dagger through her heart. It was Ron and Hermione kissing good-bye to their eldest, Rose. Rose was going to be starting her first year at Hogwarts and Lavender couldn't help but wish she was the woman with Ron.
She knew that it wasn't her to sit back and watch things happen and not do anything about it.
What she needed was closure and she didn't know why she hadn't gotten it before now. She looked down at her watch and realized the train didn't leave for seven more minutes. Slowly, she got up and made her way off the train.
The station was bustling with parents and children hugging and waving. Owls squawked and people were yelling reminders and I love you's. With some difficulty, she wove her way through the crowd toward the Weaslys.
Ron looked puzzled when he saw her but still politely said "How are you Lavender?"
"I'm doing okay," she replied, "How about you?"
"Great!" he said happily "I've never been better!"
"Well I'm glad," she said "I'm really happy for you."
She was truly happy for them; she just hoped she'd find the one for her sometime soon.
With that she turned and walked back to the train.
Now in her office she realized that she may not have Ron, but someday she might find someone like him.
