The Weasley In Ginevra

Written for: Astronomy Assignment six. A bit late, so this won't be marked. Review! One shot.

Prompt: write about a strong female character.

Ginny Weasley had six older brothers. To them, she was the stereotypical girl; in front of their eyes, she fangirl-ed over every hot boy in Witch Weekly, she helped her mother cook and clean, she listened to Celestina Warbeck without complaining. Now was the time she proved them wrong. Oh, they were very, very wrong.

She gripped her wand and slowly brought it out of the pocket of her school robes; she wanted the effect to be more than scary. She wanted it to make Fred and George Weasley run for their lives.

She pointed her wand at the pair of them.

"Hey, she thinks she can Hex us, George," said Fred.

"Pfft ... Little Ginny has forgotten the time when she got into trouble, has she?" asked George mockingly.

Little? This made her want to murder them in the middle of the night. "Shut up!" She said angrily, and jabbed her wand further towards them.

The twins backed off slightly, shocked.

Yes ... things were finally going her way. She shouted out the incantations for the Bat-Bogey Hex twice, pointing her wand at each of them in turn. The effect was immediate: both the brothers started sneezing out slimy, green coloured mucus that took its shape as a bat at the end of their nostrils and shot out, falling two feet in front of her as a green fruit-bat. She backed off slightly; she had no idea the spell was this powerful.

The scene was quite amusing; both of them were trying cry out for help, trying being the key word, but the bats just kept shooting out of their noses.

She couldn't stop herself from laughing. Laughing so hard.

"Miss Weasley! What on Earth do you think you are doing!" It was Professor McGonagall, who screamed out the counter-hex. The boys stopped sneezing out fruit-bats,and the the mess on the floor was cleared.

Oh. She had forgotten that she just hexed Fred and George in front of the Staffroom. Oh dear.

What are the consequences of hexing your brothers at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry? For Ginevra, it was a fortnight of detention, letter sent home and a series of four Howlers sent by her mother.

But inside her heart she felt immense pride: she had proved herself to be a Weasley and a Gryffindor to her brothers and to herself. She was just as capable as her large family. She was a true Weasley.
