Hello. I was just in the mood to write a 'friend to cry on' story. This sort of just popped in my head. I think this story line has been used a lot…but I can't be sure. Oh well, enjoy anyway!!

"I…I can't believe…I can't believe he did that to me!"

"It's ok Katara. Everything's going to get better, you'll see." Aang patted her back for the 20th time that night.

"I knew that he was hanging around Mai a lot. But I didn't think anything of it. I thought they were just friends but…apparently, they were a lot more than that!" she dug her head further into Aang's shoulder and sniffed, trying to hold back the tears that she so desperately wanted to let go.

"Katara, he was an ass. He is an ass. If he can't see a wonderful girl when he's got one, then he's not worth crying about." He pulled back a little, and kissed her on the forehead, as she had done for him so many times before.

"It's just that…everything I care about is leaving me. Gran gran died a month ago, and I wasn't even able to be there to say goodbye. Then you, Sokka, and Toph left, and now Zuko does this to me!" Katara let another tear slide down her cheek, "And I think it was really selfish of me to call you back here, you just left a week ago." The one tear that slide down her cheek soon turned to more and more, and once again, a steady stream of tears ran down her face. She buried her face back into the crook of Aang's neck, seeking comfort.

Aang sighed and let her lean into him, secretly enjoying the position they were in, "First of all, I'm sure your Gran gran understands why you weren't able to be there. You were halfway across the world, there's no way you could have made it in time! And second of all, Sokka, Toph, and me didn't leave you, you know we would all be back together in less than a month. We would never leave you. And third of all, You are the most selfless person I have ever met. I think you're the only one that I want to comfort me when I'm down. Why can't I do the same for you? I left exactly two minutes after I got your message. And now, I'm here, always have been, always will"

Katara slowly stopped crying, and once she as sure she stopped crying completely, she looked back up at him, "Promise?"

Aang looked down at her, their lips were only a few centimeters apart. Aang gathered up the courage that he didn't have for years, he kissed her. It was slow and sweet, nothing was forced. It reminded Katara of the kiss they had shared in the cave. That was only so they could survive, but it was sweet nonetheless.

Aang pulled away slowly, "I promise." He whispered. He stared at her for a moment, not sure of what she would say to her best friend for four years kissing her out of the blue. When she didn't say anything, he made to stand up, "Well…I guess I'll just stay the night here and leave in the morning. Good night Katara."

Before he could stand up completely, she grabbed his arm and pulled him back down, "No wait! Stay out here…with me."

He flashed her a grin and sat back down to his former position, she settled into her spot on his chest, and he wrapped his arms around her wait to keep her warm. The full moon seemed to glow even brighter. After awhile Aang could hear Katara's breath soften, and she seemed to relax even more into his chest, indicating that she had finally fallen asleep. He picked her up, and carried her over to his bed, kicking back the covers with his foot, and laying her down softly.
