A Change of Heart
Summary: Childhood friends grow up. You grow up. And over time, you start to see the change in the way you look at them... The way your touches linger for just a moment longer... I guess things change and what people say is true; you can never be "just friends".
Author's Note: This is my first story since a very long time. I hope my writing has improved over that time period, but if not, there must be something wrong. I have just come back to fan-fiction except now under a different pen name. If you are itching to know more about that, then go to my profile. Alright, well, I don't want to keep you waiting. Go ahead and read the story!
Darien- 6 years old

Prologue
A little girl cried as her lollipop fell in the sand of the playground. A raven-haired boy noticed and couldn't help but feel sympathetic towards the girl.
"What's wrong?" the boy asked approaching her.
Light met with dark as the girl looked into his midnight blue eyes and him her cornflower blue eyes. She pointed to the lollipop on the ground.
"Please don't cry, " the boy whispered wiping the tears from her e yes. He tucked a stray strand of golden blond hair and picked up the lollipop. "Hold on." He licked the disgusting salt-like substance off the lollipop, shuddering at the taste and spit it out. He then handed the lollipop to the girl.
She smiled. "Thank you! You are the coolest. My name is Serena. What is your's?" Serena exclaimed switching her morose state to contented features.
"My name is Darien," the boy replied delighted that Serena was no longer gloomy.
"Let's play house. I'm gonna be the girlfriend and you're going to be the boyfriend," Serena suggested with her eyes lighting up.
"Okay, but I'm a red Power Ranger too," Darien stated standing in a fighting stance and punching midair.
Serena only nodded and took his hand. "You're gonna be my best friend. Beryl always took everyone away from me so that I had no friends."
"I'll never leave you, pinky swear," Darien vowed.
Serena grinned and attacked him into a tight embrace. "I think I'm gonna love this guy. I just might even share him my candy sometime."
"My favorite candy is chocolate!"
"Oh, me too! I can't believe my new best friend and me have a lot of things in common."
Darien saw a rose bush nearby and picked up a dead rose bud from the ground. He brought it back to life, blooming at his touch. "A pretty rose for a pretty girl like you," Darien declared as he pinned it behind her ear. The unexpected occurred as his lips quickly brushed against hers.
"Ew, you didn't have to kiss me. We're just pretending to be boyfriend and girlfriend silly," Serena cried taken by surprise.
Darien smiled sheepishly and a soft pink hue became visible on his cheeks.
Kind of rusty? Yes, I know. Review anyway please. )
