-Sawyer-

I was trying not to worry about my cousin. Dr. Clay knew this and offered to let me help with the night shift, watching Winter at the Marine Hospital. It was a peaceful night. Winter had managed to trick me into falling into the pool with her and I was having the time of my life splashing around and swimming with her. Dr. Clay and his daughter, Hazel, were in their houseboat, just within calling distance.

I was just swimming on my side, away from Winter, when it happened - As I swung around to face to dolphin, she was closer than I expected and her own momentum made it impossible for her to stop before she rammed into me, slamming me into the side of the pool. My head snapped back and cracked against the hard cement. The air was knocked from my lungs and I sank like a rock.

My limbs wouldn't obey me, my legs suddenly like lead weights, dragging me down. I needed to breathe. I was disoriented, unsure which way was up or down, and my hands flapped uselessly.

As I was starting to black out from lack of oxygen, I felt something under my legs, pushing me upward.
