The young teen bolted down the stairs and couldn't believe what he was seeing. He was in the liar of the Batman. There were computers everywhere along with a collection of Bat vehicles such as cars, jets and even a boat.
Young Dick Grayson couldn't believe it. "Oh my gosh."
"Please, try to settle down." Bruce called back.
"Oh my gosh!"
"Dick, try to relax."
"I mean holy awesome headquarters!"
"Now there's no need to curse."
"I'm sorry but this is all so exciting." Dick said as he walked over to the caves dressing rooms where the Bat uniforms were. "So where is he?"
"Where is who?" Bruce replied with a question of his own.
"The Batman." Dick answered
Bruce sighed. "This is my cave. I'm Batman."
Dick's eyes grew as big as plates. "Oh my gosh!" he called out. "So all this time I was talking about Batman and gushing about him, you where there the whole time?"
"Pretty much." Bruce confirmed.
"I can't believe this!"
"Please Dick, try to control yourself."
"I can't help it. How would you respond if you found out your new legal guardian was Superman?"
"Hey, I'm not an alien." Bruce shot back.
Dick's mouth gapped open "Superman is an alien!"
Bruce paused for a moment. "You didn't hear that from me."
Dick was beside himself. "I can't believe this. It's so awesome!"
Bruce was trying hard not to step in because he could only imagine how amazing the cave would look to a child. It's like setting one of them loose at Santa's workshop. He stood back and watched as Dick roamed around and looked at all the cool things the Cave had within it. The little guy was at least polite enough to not touch anything as he had earlier promised to Bruce.
"How goes the unveiling?" Alfred asked.
"Not bad, it's kind of like letting a kid loose in a candy store." Bruce replied. "I think Dick is going to need a little time to get used to the cave being here before we can talk to him about his part in everything."
"Seems like a wise move, Master Bruce." Alfred said as he watched the boy wander around the cave. "He seems a little distracted at the moment."
"We're going to ask him to take on more responsibility than what is usually required of a boy his age." Bruce said as he also watched. "Maybe we should let him enjoy this for a moment before we force him to grow up."
"Well said, Master Bruce." Alfred concurred.
"Hey Alfred!" Dick called up. "Isn't this wicked?"
"Immensely, Master Dick." Alfred agreed.
"Can we take it for a spin?" Dick said as he pointed to the Batmobile.
Bruce smiled. "Sure. Let me get changed."
Dick started to jump and hop around, excited about what was to happen. Alfred took a deep breath and sighed as he left the cave, taking lunch back up to the fridge to preserve.
