Disclaimer: How come I can't be Libba Bray? Then I would be so cool, and have the best imagination! What?! I'm not a member of Kansas? I didn't write Carry On My Wayward Son!? That makes me sad.
And I felt like writing and listening to music so I decided to write a songfic! It made the most sense, and I love Kartik, and Kansas. They're both so cool. What I suggest you do when you read this, is find the song and play it while you read the non-italicized sections (those are just the lyrics). This takes place on Kartik's journey back from the Rakshana.
Carry On My Wayward Son or the Rakshana
Carry on my
wayward son
There'll be peace when you are
done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don't
you cry no more
Kartik rubs his temples. He is confused. Why had the Rakshana sent him this task? He missed Gemma, but he wouldn't admit it to himself. He lays his head down and closes his eyes.
Once I rose
above the noise and confusion
Just to get a glimpse beyond this
illusion
I was soaring ever higher
but I flew too high
He doesn't mind being alone. It gave him a moment to think without the illusions of others getting in the way. He could step back, and look at the reality of the world.
Though my
eyes could see I still was a blind man
Though my mind could think
I still was a mad man
I hear the voices when I'm dreaming
I can
hear them say
He is proud to be a member of the Rakshana. Gemma thought that they were bad, for using him, but he knew better. Or so he thought. The blackness of sleep comes over him, and he begins to dream.
Carry on my
wayward son
There'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary
head to rest
Don't you cry no more
He dreams of Gemma. She is leaning over him and whispers in ear. "I believe in you." She kisses him just below the ear and then moves to his lips.
Masquerading
as a man with a reason
My charade is the event of the season
And
if I claim to be a wise man, well
It surely means that I don't
know
He is told to fake his feelings for her, but would he really be faking? One thing he knew is that it may take a wile. He knows that he doesn't know everything. He always wounded the true intentions of his brotherhood but he had never questioned their authority till he met Gemma.
On
a stormy sea of moving emotion
Tossed about I'm
like a ship on the ocean
I set a course for winds
of fortune
But I hear the voices say
This whole ordeal was so confusing for him. His brain told him one thing, but his heart told him another.
Carry
on my wayward son
There'll be peace when you are
done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don't
you cry no more
Who should he trust? Gemma or the Rakshana? He could not have both now.
No!
His head snaps up, and he looks around. Where was he? Then he remembered; he is on his way to see Gemma.
Carry
on, you will always remember
Carry on, nothing
equals the splendor
The center lights around your
vanity
But surely heaven waits for you
What a strange dreams he was having lately. He gets up and continues his way back to Spence.
Carry
on my wayward son
There'll be peace when you are
done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don't
you cry (don't you cry no more)
Well I had fun with that, but what about you? Like it, love it, hate it? What are your thoughts? Please review. I would love to hear anything you have to say, related or not. I do except reviews from people who are not members. Also, if you saw something wrong please RESPECTFULLY tell me.
