Just some little fluff I wrote for a friend. It's also on my Tumblr.

I own nothing here.

"Blood, if I have told you once I've told you a thousand times," began Alice with a sigh. "I'm FINE. A little tired, but otherwise fine."

"If you're tired at all, you should rest," answered the Hatter. He had already tried (and failed) to pull Alice into his lap and hold her; she'd stubbornly insisted on sitting next to him, which irked him just a little.

Alice sighed again. "That's what I'm doing right now. Why else would I be joining you for tea instead of working?"

"You shouldn't be doing maid work at all right now," answered Blood reproachfully. "Not for a long while-"

"Honestly," Alice replied, her tone just a little sharp now. "I'm not made of glass. I understand that you're concerned, but honestly, just sitting around doing nothing would be detrimental to my health. You know that."

For a brief moment Blood looked uncomfortable; then it was banished with an expression of the wryest amusement. "You never fail to do just the opposite of what I want, do you?" He heaved a sigh of his own and gave in. "Do as you please. But the moment I see you overworking yourself, I'm holding you in place in bed, do you understand me?"

This was a (rare) occasion of which there was only an innocent meaning to those words, so Alice didn't flinch or blush as she replied, "All right then. Just so long as I can have rose hip tea."

"Of course. If that is what you desire, then you shall have it." Blood's eyes were kind, kinder than anyone else would ever see them. "Anything you wish, I shall provide."

Now Alice did blush. "You don't have to go that far."

"But I want to."

"Honestly, I know that this isn't just for me, but- oh!"

She stopped talking suddenly, eyes wide, blinking and staring; Blood was on high alert. "What is it?" he asked, grasping her hand. "Did you think of something important? Or is it something to do with-"

"You're overreacting," soothed Alice. And she smiled, a smile that grew wide and warm. "It's nothing bad at all."

"Then what is it?" questioned Blood impatiently.

Instead of answering, Alice took the hand in hers and placed it over her stomach. He started to ask what she was doing when he paused just as she had done.

"This is…"

"The first time the baby's kicked," Alice finished. "Nothing bad at all."

Blood didn't let her say anything more and kissed her.
