Well, this is kind of a random sort of short fic. I kinda just felt like writing something about Yukina...I might have a yuri fic coming up with Yukina and...someone else...

How quiet it was. Deathly quiet.

'They've killed them,' something whispered inside her. 'That's why it's so quiet. They're dead. Dead as you can get. They're lying bleeding in the square, both of them. Now what?' She sobbed. 'No, Yukina, no tears now. What use are tears? The gems would just get in your way. Come on, you have to look for them.' She stumbled off. Was she going the right way?

"No, you can't come, too, Yukina," Hiei had said.

"Why not?" she had asked.

"It's too dangerous, and I don't want to risk you."

"How come Kazuma gets to go, then?"

"He's trained in this sort of thing. And it's his sister who was kidnapped, anyway."

"I could use my healing powers to help you, though!"

"Please, Yukina, we need someone to stay with our stuff!"

"Fine," she had finally said, resentfully, and thought to herself, 'She was like a sister to me, too. And he never was very good at lying.'

She thought she heard a faint 'I know' in reply to her thinking.

"We'll be back before dawn, with Shizuru. I promise." Then he, Kazuma, and Yusuke had left.

'Liar!' She could tell from his voice that he didn't quite believe it himself. Yukina stumbled over a protruding root, grabbed at something thorny, and fell to her knees sobbing harder than ever, her hand now bleeding. Murderers! They were all murderers! What had she to do with people like that? How had she gotten dragged into this?

'They took Yusuke with them,' she thought as she got up again, 'but not me. And now they're dead.'

What was she going to do? She was alone, after all.

'Don't make such a fuss,' Yukina told herself. 'You've always been alone, remember? Now, use your head. No matter what's happened, you have to try to get her out of there. There's no one left but you to do it. If you don't, she'll probably end up dead…or worse. Like back in Koorime.'

"I need a weapon," she whispered. Now, that was not a thought that had ever gone through her head before. She must really be desperate. "Then I'll sneak into their headquarters with it." Everybody had always thought that she couldn't cope with the world, but she would show them! She would save her friends, or die trying!

'Just how will you do that?' the little voice whispered to her. 'They're gone, Yukina, just like your mother.'

She wept, and this time a stream of her tear gems flowed down her front and landed gently on the grass, where they lay, sparkling in the faint moonlight.

Well, I hoped you liked it. Yes, I know, it was very short, but all of one-shots, if I ever have anymore, WILL BE SHORT! Like me. Dun-dun-dun, that's so anticlimactic, isn't it? Oh well...and no, Hiei and the others DID NOT DIE! Now, if that happened because of me, how could I ever forgive myself! It's just a story, and a very random one at that...
