* This is just a little insight into Neal during that near-death scene in, "Company Man" READ AND REVIEW!

Once Neal had heard that Jessica had poisoned Kent's drink, he automatically realized Peter was up there with him, and had probably gotten a drink too. He cursed, and went sprinting back into the building. Skidding to a halt at the front desk he expressed his need to get to Kent's office. The security guard merely laughed and declined, Neal knew there wasn't time and ran for it. Down the hall, he entered the elevator, closing the doors and wrenching the cover off of the panel under the buttons.

"HEY!" The guard was yelling, "Open the door!"

"Gimme the card?"

"Not a chance."

Neal cursed again and went back to work searching for the appropriate wires, upon finding them he felt a slight shock as the electricity sparked out of the two wires, but he was in. He hit the button to Kent's office and hoped desperately that the elevator would go faster, just this one time.

"I'm calling the cops!" The guard yelled.

"Good! And the paramedics!" Neal yelled back.

He was in Kent's office within seconds and cried, his heart stopping momentarily,

"PETER!"

His friend was lying on the floor, obviously poisoned, as was Kent but Neal didn't care about that now. No, no, no, no! Not dead, not dead!

He dragged Peter as quickly as he could out into the hall, his face was growing paler he could just feel it, and he was doing his very best to keep the tremors that wanted so badly to shake his body at bay. He set Peter down gently against the wall, slamming on the elevator button.

"Neal... Kent." Peter groaned.

"No, Peter you're dying, we don't have time to-"

"No, Neal... No one gets left behind."

Neal wanted so badly to reason with Peter, but knowing that agent it'd be alot quicker just getting Kent.

He paused only a moment before adrenaline sent him sprinting into Kent's office and back again with Kent, dragging limp behind him.

Neal watched as the paramedics injected Peter with something to stop the poison, but Neal couldn't bare to watch. But he had to.

He was shaking now, his expression, utmost terror, what if they didn't give Peter the antidote in time? What if he was dying, right now? He watched, his heart beating so fast that he could hear it thumping in his head, as Peter and Kent were loaded into the back of the ambulance. Neal smiled as he heard what Peter said.

It was typical Peter to still be arresting someone while poison was pumping through his viens.

They closed the doors to the ambulance and left Neal standing there, staring after it, his heart pounding, head spinning, and fear eating at him like a starved animal.

He thought of how he'd felt earlier, it could've been today, or yesterday, or three days ago, he couldn't quite remember when. But he'd recieved a call from Mozzie, and the first question he'd gotten from him at first seemed so bizarre but by the time Neal had hung up, he understood why he'd asked.

"First tell me, are you sitting or standing?"

"What?"

"Sitting or standing?"

"Standing. Why?"

"Well, you might wanna hold on to something."

And then he remembered the feeling inside when he heard that Peter was keeping secrets, the betrayal, and anger he'd felt. But all that was gone now. It had been replaced by fear.

Fear and concern.

Concern for the only person who could help Neal lead a good life.

The person who was now in an ambulance, with toxins pumping through him.

Neal sat down on a bench, and trembled with terror, staring off into space as he thought of the horrible thing he'd ever seen only moments ago on the floor of Kent's office.

His best friend. Dying.
