Chapter 1 – Visions Of A Lifetime
"Alice? Alice! What are you doing here?" I yelled, as I ran across to the familiar-looking person I was not expecting to see.
"Bella, Bella...we have to talk. Do you mind if I stay with you for the night?" Alice said in her chirpy voice, but there was a worry to it.
"Of course not, you could stay the whole week if you wanted..." I trailed off, remembering that the Cullen family had left. "Where are the others? Are they coming back too?"
"Um, it's just me," Alice stumbled.
We walked into my house, as Jacob followed.
"Jake..." I warned and pushed him outside before he could even glimpse at Alice. Ow, I thought. Why does he have to be so hard?
I quickly shut the door, locked it, and turned back around to face Alice. She had that blank look on her face that told me she was having a vision of the future.
"What is it Alice? What is it?" I exclaimed.
"Oh no...Oh no..." Alice muttered, "Let me explain. You see, I had this vision that you jumped off a cliff, and Rosalie told Edward. He is going to the Volturi..."
I gasped. I remembered what he had said about the Volturi, you don't mess with them, unless you wanted to die.
"But you see, I just had another vision of what he is planning to do. He is going to run through the city, destroying everything to expose himself in the sunlight. People will know Bella...and then the Volturi would have to kill him. I tried to keep this away from Jasper...because if he knew, he would rush over there and help Edward. But Rosalie! She told him! We have to get over there Bella...we have to! Before it's too late..."Alice spoke hurriedly.
Before I had even had time to think, we rushed off and in no time, and were in Italy. The plane trip had given me a major headache, and it was very hard to think about what was actually happening. I was so glad we were here, but then Alice had another vision. Jasper and Emmett, both stupid and unthinking, had already gotten there to help Edward. Her vision was horrible, all three of them were caught by the Volturi, yet they still fought, knowing that they could not win. Alice, looking as though she would cry if she could, ushered me into her stolen car as she quickly drove off to the palace of the Volturi. It was a matter of time before she hit the brake – fast.
"What's wrong Alice?" I asked.
"NO! Oh no..." Alice trailed off.
"What is it, Alice? What's happening?" I exclaimed.
"They...they lost. They've ended them, Bella... they're no more..." I've never seen Alice this way, so I quickly grasped on to what was happening.
They're dead, I thought. Emmett, Jasper...and Edward. I couldn't bring myself to face that fact, so I screamed with all my might.
"THAT CAN'T BE TRUE, ALICE! IT CAN'T BE! YOU SAID YOUR VISIONS AREN'T ALWAYS RIGHT!"
"Bella, Bella, listen to me. It has happened already. I saw Aro discard them. It has happened already." Alice repeated over and over, "We were late. We are late."
I wanted to cry, yet I somehow could not. My consciousness was slipping...and suddenly everything became dark.
