There
once a lady of high pedigree,
A prettier queen no tom ever did
see,
But there too was a thief of grave villainy,
And to steal
her heart was his decree.
Oh
the lady and thief, they danced in moonlight,
But
the thief's wretched heart was filled with spite,
the
lady's poor soul did recoil with fright,
and
the thief disappeared like a bolt in the night.
The
young lady lost her heart to him,
Over mornings bright and
evenings dim,
And the lady who used to be proper and prim,
Was
gallivanting with an established crim.
And
the lady and thief, they danced in moonlight,
But
the thief's wretched heart was filled with spite,
the
lady's poor soul did recoil with fright,
and
the thief disappeared like a bolt in the night.
He
stole her away to his fiendish abode,
Where the wolves howled and
the ravens crowed,
The thief and agents all followed a code,
And
the lady was trapped, her tears flowed.
Oh
the lady and thief, they danced in moonlight,
But
the thief's wretched heart was filled with spite,
the
lady's poor soul did recoil with fright,
and
the thief disappeared like a bolt in the night.
Her
love had turned bitter, and fearful, and tense,
And the walls of
his warehouse were strong as a fence,
She bore him a kitten, kept
up the pretence,
But her heart was injured, with scars and
dents.
Oh
the lady and thief, they danced in moonlight,
But
the thief's wretched heart was filled with spite,
the
lady's poor soul did recoil with fright,
and
the thief disappeared like a bolt in the night.
But
then came a tom, brother to the swine,
Who's heart was so set on
the lady so fine,
And since she went missing, his heart it did
pine,
Her beauty sent shivers up his silver spine.
Oh
the lady and thief, they danced in moonlight,
But
the thief's wretched heart was filled with spite,
the
lady's poor soul did recoil with fright,
and
the thief disappeared like a bolt in the night.
The
tom and the thief, exchanged their blows,
Oh, the thief was so
cruel, his heart had froze,
But the tom fought with love, from his
tail to his nose,
And beat him- but how? Nobody knows.
Oh
the lady and thief, they danced in moonlight,
But
the thief's wretched heart was filled with spite,
the
lady's poor soul did recoil with fright,
and
the thief disappeared like a bolt in the night.
The
tom took the queen to where she could belong,
Her beautiful kitten
helped to right the wrong,
He found her protectors, courageous and
strong.
He told her his love was so true and lifelong.
Oh
the lady and thief, they danced in moonlight,
But
the thief's wretched heart was filled with spite,
the
lady's poor soul did recoil with fright,
and
the thief disappeared like a bolt in the night.
The
lady lived happily, while awake,
But in her dark dreams, her frail
heart would break,
The thief, still took of all of her that he
could take,
She knew he would come for her, for vengeance sake.
