Jewel in the Crown

Amir was not a selfish or conceited person. He worked tirelessly for his country. His people all loved him dearly. However, of love, there was only one person who truly caught his heart. Her name was Rachel. She was the most beautiful person he had ever met.

He was entranced upon their first meeting. In all of her glory, she had captivated him. She held the same way of thinking as he did. Her mind was dedicated to peaceful co-existence with nature. She was a person of harmony. He knew that he wouldn't be able to leave easily after meeting with her.

He didn't want to leave. He could search the world over to find ways of bettering his country but there would never be a greater treasure than her. He was sure of that. The crown belonging to the reigning kings of his ancestry were his country's greatest fortune yet somehow she was worth more.

She worked hard. There were a great many tasks for her to fulfil. Amir hid his feelings deep in his heart so she wouldn't be inconvenienced. He wanted her to be without burdens.

Unfortunately, too soon came a day when the grandest jewel of the crown was lost. He could do nothing more. His efforts, his hopes and his most magnificent dreams were stolen away. Fate was not in his favour.

"Amir!" he jolted from his thoughts to find Rachel's smiling eyes gazing into his own. "Thank you so much for coming!"

He didn't know what she meant. He was the one who chose to move to her village. He had chosen to wear a mask of lies. What was she referring to?

Sanjay smiled and gave a polite bow. "Master Amir, thank you coming. I am grateful that you have chosen to come,"

Amir smiled and shook his friend's hand. "I'm glad to be here, friend,"

A high-pitched, nervous giggle lingered in the background. The sound of quiet encouragement rang out in whispers. Rachel strode over, her right hand partially covering her face. She laughed mutely before turning stretching up onto her tiptoes and kissing Sanjay's cheek.

The two promptly turned red. A bout of exuberant giggling exploded. Amir's heart skipped a beat. He forced himself not to avert his gaze. No one knew and he wouldn't let anyone find out. It was too late to claim her regardless.

He spoke in a polite tone. "I hope that you experience a life of joy and contentment together,"

Rachel hugged him. "Thank you, Amir. Thank you for coming here, for bringing Sanjay and for you. You're wonderful,"

Author's Note: Yes, this would be just about the most painful thing a person could go through. Trust me, knowing that the one you love has already found his soulmate is bad enough. Anyway, this is a wonderful little piece that I'm so happy with. I do worry because I live in Scotland and the European release date hasn't even been released. I haven't played the game. I have very little knowledge of them and their personalities. I know what I know from Fogu. Thank goodness for that website! I hope that you've enjoyed my work. Thank you for reading! I apologise if you are, in any way, unhappy, disappointed or even dissatisfied with my piece.
