The pool was the place where he had first fully acknowledged her existence and it was also where he last looked upon her face. He had only ever been there two times and did not intend to ever go back, as it would only tear him apart.
He was sitting at the edge of the pool, dangling his legs into the cold, chlorine – filled water. He felt awkward, not only because he was in his boxers and exposing his chest to the world, but also because there was a couple not so far away from him who were kissing each other drunkenly. He tried to ignore it, but they were doing it right in front of him.
Get a fucking room… He thought miserably, as he slumped his shoulders more than usual. The truth was he wanted to kiss someone so badly… not just someone, but Grace.
He glanced around to avoid looking at the sickening sight of that couple and his eyes latched onto her perfect form. Grace looked like a goddess, or more correctly what he thought a goddess should look like. She sat on the opposite side of the pool from him, staring straight in his direction as if he was the only one in the world who mattered right then. She was wearing a set of mismatching lingerie, which reminded of earlier that day when he was wearing an odd pair of socks. She was giving Rich a teasing smile as she hopped off the ledge and into the pool; she did it gracefully as she did everything else.
Rich, grinning, stumbled up into a standing position and took a step backward. He took a running jump into the pool that ended up perfectly displaying the contrasts within their relationship. She was the elegant ballerina and he was the stumbling, awkward metalhead.
Once under, he began to swim as fast as he could… just to get close to her, for her to be in his arms once more. Something was wrong though – she was missing. He twisted himself around, searching every corner of the pool for her; at last he looked back in front of him and there she was again, as lovely as ever.
He felt peace when he managed to see those beautiful eyes of hers and instantly relaxed. She was still smiling as if they had only been playing a game of hide and seek. She swam closer to him, moving in to kiss him as a way of greeting. He kissed he back passionately and she was kissing him as if her life depended on it.
Grace usually kissed him gently and fleetingly as a way to make Rich long for more, but this time was special – she wanted him more than she ever had before. She parted his lips with her tongue and was begging him for more as their tongues met. She held on tightly to him by twisting her fingers in his hair. She was holding on as if she never wanted to let go.
Rich always felt lighter than air when he kissed Grace and this time was no exception, in fact now they were both floating together…. Not sinking downward or rising to the surface, but just floating and that made it kind of magical.
Too soon afterwards, Grace let go of Rich's hair and he felt her move away from him, so he was left just kissing water. His first thought was that he longed to kiss her again and again for eternity, but when he opened his eyes she wasn't even there.
As if it was only this kiss that had caused him to simply float earlier, he now shot to the water's surface to finally get some air that he so desperately needed. He turned around, panicked and scared, because she had gone and he knew this wasn't a simple game of hide and seek anymore. He tried to process what had just happened, to find some loophole in his way of thinking, but he knew deep down what had happened.
That kiss wasn't just any kiss, it was Grace's way of saying goodbye…
A/N: Just pretend they were in the same pool they had been in the first time they met...
I cried while writing this and I think it shows here how emotional I was while writing it. Hope you enjoy xx
