The Music of the Universe

Disclaimer: Seriously, I don't own Doctor Who!

The Song of the Universe is a myth- not because it doesn't exist, but because there isn't a single song; there are millions. Every star, every planet, every heartbeat has its own tune.

The cosmos is made with music. It has low bass notes where wars tear down worlds. It has joyous octaves where everybody lives. As Bad Wolf blazed, Rose Tyler heard singing. The Ood foretold the Doctor-Donna, saviour of the universe, in song.

The Doctor hears the music of the universe; his TARDIS is the music. She breathes it and sings it and dances to it across the stars. There's a reason her Child's last name is Song, her true name Melody; she is wrapped up in the music of the cosmos.

This is why the Silence is so terrible; not the Order of the Silence, trying to change the notes and rearrange the chords, but the emptiness you become when you close your heart and mind to the music.

The Doctor's name is the Doctor's song. It is terror, and anger, and death. But it is also love, and joy, and healing. If you want to know his name, then listen, listen to his heartbeats as he runs, and his breath as he speaks; listen to his sighs when he feels he has failed and his laughter when he knows he has won.

The Order of the Silence do not want the Doctor's song to be heard. They do not want it to flow through time and space, returning all their alterations to the natural tune. We must stop them. We must be the best of humanity, and sing the Doctor's song. We must make the Silence fall.
