Naruto was always a dangerous opponent, Kabuto knew. The jinchuuriki's abilities were so much like his that, should they battle for longer than fifteen minutes, it would quickly turn into a battle of stamina.
Kabuto had good stamina.
But Naruto was better.
Kabuto knew this. If they were to engage in battle, it had best be one that Orochimaru would soon interfere in, killing or driving off Naruto. Then, Kabuto would be safe.
He depended on Orochimaru.
And he forgot how easily Orochimaru threw away his pawns.
