A/N – A little Klaroline drabble based off the porch scene in 4x14 "Down the Rabbit Hole". Review?

He said he'd never hurt her – she knew it was a lie.

Klaus: I've done more than enough. I've shown kindness, forgiveness, pity...because of you, Caroline. It was all for you.

House of Lies

He startles her, walking out of the Gilbert House like nothing was wrong, like he hadn't just been stuck inside the living room for two days.

"How'd you get out?" she asks tiredly, almost grateful that his appearance pulled her thoughts away from Tyler and heartache and too many good-byes.

"I fear something awful has befallen your friend Bonnie."

Bonnie.

She stands suddenly, her mind racing. She needs to call someone, Stefan, Rebekah, someone who can tell her it's a lie and that Bonnie is ok, alive and well, and the spell simply wore off, or something, something other than what Klaus has just said.

"Don't worry Love, you know I'd never hurt you," he says taking a step closer.

Her brow creases as the words hit her, all smooth and seductive, and her brain is crying 'Foul' and she wants to scream 'Liar!' because he has hurt her, directly, indirectly, physically, emotionally.

He. Has. Hurt. Her.

"You've done enough," she shoots back and immediately she bites her tongue because she was never good at saying the right thing at the right time. She knows that Kol is dead and Klaus is free and it probably wouldn't be a good idea to sass him right now.

"I've done more than enough. I've shown kindness, forgiveness, pity...because of you, Caroline. It was all for you."

She's biting her tongue again, so hard she can taste blood. She wants to call him out on his lies, slap him across his perfectly stubbled cheek, tell him that giving Tyler a "head start" is not showing kindness, forgiveness, pity, that it's just another one of his games and she hates him, hates him!

She's afraid Klaus will smell the blood on her tongue if she opens her mouth so she remains silent as Klaus lowers his eyes, surely ruing the fact that she seems to have this power over him and walks off into the night.
