Torchwood: CoE-An antidote?
This had to be the most painful death Jack had ever experienced because this time he had nothing to come back for. Why couldn't he just die and stay dead?
Jack had held Ianto until his last breath, if Jack had had his way he would have never let Ianto go. The last kiss. How could he live with that?
He let out a breath and sighed at his surroundings. Then he sat up and looked over Gwen's shoulder at the man he loved so much but never got to tell.
Tears rolled down from Gwen's eyes and Jack's eyes stung as his tears tried to do the same.
He let them fall but didn't make a sound, it was Gwen who broke the silence as she uttered the same question she had asked after Tosh & Owen's deaths; "What do we do now?"
The question echoed in Jack's mind and he knew that this was the end. There was no carrying on this time. Jack was loosing everyone he loved and he couldn't stop it.
Then footsteps echoed through the vast room and a familiar voice spoke soft and gentle. "Jack, I'm sorry. I know you will want this."
"Martha?" Gwen asked quietly.
"Gwen… Jack, you should take this."
"What is it?" Jack asked cautiously, taking the box from Martha's hand.
"How long has Ianto been dead, Gwen?"
"A couple of hours."
"Good, then that should still work."
"But what is it?"
"The 456 antidote."
"What?!" Jack and Gwen exclaimed.
"Jack, trust me, I'm a doctor." Martha replied, before leaving the pair gobsmacked.
Jack pulled out the needle and stuck it into the bottle. He placed the bottle on the floor and tapped the needle, then without hesitation or question, he stuck the needle into Ianto's arm and injected the antidote.
After a minute of so, Ianto let out a breath and blinked.
"What happened?" He asked in an almost sleepy tone, trying to meet Jack's eyes.
"Ianto… you died but Martha found the 456 antidote."
"What?"
"Ianto." Gwen said, smiling slightly at Ianto's confusion.
"I missed you, Jack." Ianto replied, placing his hand on Jack's
"I missed you too, Ianto." Jack replied, squeezing Ianto's hand.
"Then who missed me?" Gwen asked softly, trying to lighten the atmosphere.
"I did." Jack smiled, wrapping an arm round her shoulders and hugging her.
"Me too." Ianto added, smiling sweetly.
"I love you, you big softies." Gwen smiled, hugging Jack and grabbing Ianto's free hand.
"We love you too." Jack smiled gently, squeezing Ianto's hand once more.
The End
