As Tony hugged Gibbs for the first time, he couldn't help but feel a little let down. Calling him DiNozzo had hurt a bit-didn't this occasion warrant him being called by his first name? His reference to his family had been used in the loosest sense of the term-it was just him and Talia with occasional visits from his Dad. The truth was that he was leaving a bigger family for a smaller one-something he was anxious to do after so many years. Though they were his best friends, Tony realised that having Talia had changed that. He could no longer have impromptu meetings with Tim where he would pick a classic film and bore him with film trivia until they both fell asleep. He would miss Abby dragging him to bowling to meet her other friends and then going back to her place and eating junk food way into the early hours of the morning. Though Ellie did not have much in common personally, Tony would spend nights with her sat on the office floor whilst on a case, occasionally fishing out sweet treats from his drawer for them both to eat. As for Gibbs, he would miss spending rare nights full of steak, beer and boat building (not necessarily in that order!) where the conversation flowed freely and the companionship was what they both needed. So yeah, he was a bit disappointed with Gibbs and felt that they should have had more of a moment. Hopefully they would stay in contact and he could offer words of wisdom on parenting but if they didn't, Tony couldn't dwell on it-after all, he now had two people to look out for.
