Prompt: King

"It is said that," Mr. Rome flipped over the page, "When Britain is in need, King Arthur will awaken from his sleep to once again protect the land. He is more than a legend to the people of Britain; he is a symbol of hope."

There was a pause.

Suddenly, Rome slumped in his seat, unceremoniously slapping the book onto his desk. Sighs of relief began to reverberate around the classroom as the group of adolescents began to stretch and pull their blazers back on, most of them shoving or slipping heavy textbooks back into their bags while turning to talk to other pupils.

Alfred, one of the few who had not yet moved, raised his head from his arms, blearily looking up at the teacher, "That it?" He mumbled.

"Yes, it's over." Rome ran a hand over his face.

The blond teenager yawned, shouting to the rest of the room a muffled, "Alright! We're out of here."

There was a snort of disdain from the boy next to him, "Couldn't you appreciate the legend of King Arthur at all? His story is one of chivalry, justice and drama. King Arthur is a legend," Arthur Kirkland glared at him from his seat, "I would have thought you'd have appreciated that since you're so fixated on those superhero magazines."

"They're called comics, Iggy, I mean, man…" Alfred rolled his eyes, bending down to grab his backpack off the floor.

Arthur sneered at him, "Alright, comics then, but the point still remains, King Arthur is a legend and I would have thought you'd have appreciated him."

Lifting his bag onto the table, and watching as Arthur leaned down to retrieve his, Alfred rubbed his hand through his hair before grinning dopily, "Iggy, no offense to this king guy or anything but, seriously, you're the only Arthur I appreciate."

There was a 'thump' as Arthur hit his head on the desk.

"What? S-shut up," He muttered as he emerged from under the table, one hand dragging his bag out and the other clutching at the back of his head. His face was turning a very floral pink colour.

Alfred just leaned forward, smiling cheekily, "You're my Queen Arthur."
