Kamichama Karin belongs to Koge-Donbo. This is purely fan fiction.

I wanted to write something for Kamichama Karin, since I used to read it a lot.

Himeka Karasuma twirled her parasol idly as she walked down the sidewalk. It was a beautiful summer day, the cicadas were chirping, and she was feeling better than she had in weeks, so she was going to the park. In the pochette bouncing off her hip was a finger painting set. Yes…there was no better way for Himeka to celebrate her good health by vandalizing lampposts.

However, as Himeka passed under the shade of the trees, she noticed a large, greenish-brown thing, crawling along at a snail's pace. Himeka stopped dead and looked down.

A tortoise.

Himeka crouched down to get a better look. When was the last time she had seen a tortoise? And better yet, why was it here? Himeka reached out and ran her hand over the tortoise's shell. It was smooth and looked big enough for Himeka to sit on.

The poor tortoise would suddenly feel a heavy weight on him, as Himeka had decided to hitch a ride on his shell. It was a miracle that he kept moving, even after he had an uninvited passenger on his back.

Himeka steadied herself as the tortoise started to walk again. It moved very, very slowly, but it was better than walking. Besides, how could Himeka pass up this opportunity?

As they rounded a corner, a cool breeze blew. They were now at the top of the hill, and Himeka could get a clear view of the ocean. She inhaled the salty ocean air and sighed happily. Coming to Kirio-chan's summer villa had been a good idea.

"Tortoise-chan…could you stop here?" Himeka asked. To her surprise, he stopped. Himeka jumped off his back and smoothed out her dark purple dress. The tortoise looked at Himeka expectantly. Himeka stared back for a moment, and then smiled and said:

"I know! As a reward…" Himeka took out her finger painting set, "…I'll decorate your shell!"

Shocked beyond belief, the tortoise tried to run away, but since he was a tortoise, he was too slow. Soon, he found himself with a pattern of badly-painted flowers on his shell.

"Bye bye…Tortoise-chan!" Himeka called as the tortoise shuffled away with a disgruntled expression on his face. Himeka turned and continued to walk down the road, blissfully enjoying the summer weather.
