Hi, I'm Mai Taniyama, and I am currently eighteen years old I am still clumsy, late for some things due to oversleeping and optimistic though not like I used to be When I was fifteen. I feel like I have to force it nowadays the only things that had changed is that I study paranormal books to feel closer to how I used to spend my days when I was introduced to it when I was fifteen and still in my year as a freshman but that was before he left me.
I was fifteen when I was first introduced to the paranormal at that time the only thing that I knew about ghosts was that the reason that they stayed was due to a traumatic experience. I was telling ghost stories after school with two of my friends Kaiko and Michiru when I met Kazuya Shibuya or what I call him Naru The narcissist But I say Naru for short because I have never seen a person talk so highly of themselves in my entire life.
Naru surprised us when he walked in when we were counting, and he said four though we thought that was a ghost, but then he smiled and said that the next time that we told stories to invite him and that's when Kaiko said that we were going to do it tomorrow same time and place the next morning when I woke up I decided to get there a little earlier to see the cherry blossoms without the noise, but in the old schoolhouse that had been rumored to be haunted had a camera in it.
I went inside out of curiosity, but when I heard a voice telling me to get out of there I freaked and bumped into the shelf it almost crushed me, but I was saved when I tried to explain, but Naru told me I was going to be late for class when I met with him later on he told me that was his assistant and that not only was he in the hospital but the camera was broken as well but since I didn't have the money to pay him back I worked it off on this case.
After some time meeting monk (Takigawa Hosho), priest (John Brown), Priestess(Ayako Matsuzaki), and a famous medium (Masako Hara) after some debate we figured out that not only is it land subsidence(the wells that were under the ground, causing it to become weak) But it was also Kuroda since she developed a little PK and had caused it since she was so adamant that it was haunted.
I figured out many things in the case that I didn't really know before like tessons nine criteria for poltergeists though monk thought like the others that it was because it matched a lot, but Ayako thought that it was in earthbound spirits and Masako always said that there were no spirits there.
but it was Naru in the end that figured it out though he doubted himself for a second I thought this was the last time that I would see Naru but then when he asked me if I wanted the job I was more than happy to accept.
I was happy when I got to work with them all with each case I felt as if I was drawing closer to them, and we were a little family Ayako was motherly, the monk was like an overprotective brother, while Osamu Yasuhara (we call him Yasu.) was the easy-going prankster in our group we met him when we were doing a case in a school that Ouija boarded that caused tons of spirits to gather in one place eating each other until there was only the strongest left though we eventually solved that one.
Then there is Masako who clearly shows her distaste for me while flirting persistently with Naru, then there's John a soft-spoken fellow that also feels like a brother.
Eventually I told them I was an orphan in the Vlad case in a mansion that had so many twists and turns it was practically a maze which ironically, they did have one out the back that leads to the building where he would drain young people's blood in hopes of staying alive but in the end we had to see it burn.
I became aware of my feelings for Naru whenever he was in the hospital but had no hope of him returning the feeling, so I decided to act normal and did what I normally did which was making him tea, filling out reports, and another task that he handed me when he was out of the hospital attempting revenge on any cases that we accepted.
He left when I was sixteen he told me that he was asked to return home and that he will return in two years, which made me cry that night, then the next day all of us was at the airport saying goodbye to Naru and a part of me wanted to tell him how I felt, but I knew that if I said that now, and he didn't return the feelings I would just feel embarrassed plus I figured out that the guy in my dreams that looks like Naru is actually gene his twin.
so he would probably think that I am mixing the two of them, I feel regret when I remember the day that I was telling him my dream and slipped out that I saw him, then after a while we figured it ever since then I focused on my studies and expand my knowledge of the paranormal.
