morning i l l u s i o n.

His eyes fluttered from beneath its lids and a quiet, drowsy groan was emitted through pursed lips as he felt the air in his room grow chilly, prickling his bare skin. He ignored it, and smacked his lips together, incinerating any thoughts of waking up in his mind.

As he kept his eyes closed and tried to fall back to sleep, he couldn't help but sense that something was watching him. He began to notice the quietness of his room, the air he felt this morning was different, not like the air he had grown use to every time he woke up. This air held a presence to it, but the young man couldn't quite get his tongue on what it was.

Again, the chilly morning air pierced his skin, and the sense of being watched came back.

Blue orbs flittered underneath its lids and finally they were revealed.

His eyes began to slowly slide open and only reached half way when they saw a soft silhouette of a feminine figure towering over his body. Curiosity bested him, and he opened his eyes fully, seeing a face that was half covered by the sun's rays which peeked through the window next to his bed.

His mind was still foggy with sleep but he managed to blink away some of that sleep and focus his vision on the mystery face that was looking over him. A breath of astonishment drew from his now parted lips as the mystery face moved from the rays and was now able to be seen clearly.

Long, brown tresses framed a beautiful, soft face that was looking down at Cloud. Bright emerald eyes sparkled with amusement as it was watching the dazed figure. Cloud stared blankly, and managed to whisper out the name of the person who was watching him.

"Aerith?"

Satisfied with his waking, the girl smiled, closing her eyes in the process and brought her fingers over her lips to stifle out a quiet giggle. Her angelic voice chirruped throughout the quiet room, ringing through Cloud's ears and causing his heart to flutter for mere seconds.

"Good morning!"

Cloud gaped, and blinked. When he opened his eyes again, the figure of Aerith had disappeared and left in her place was the blanket that covered his body. His mind jolted to a wake and he widened his eyes slightly, finally out of the drowsy state. He sat up on his bed, and drew a soft exclamation of confusion to the girl who disappeared.

"Huh?"

He recalled the yearned for voice that bid him good morning, and a let out a soft sigh in disappointment. He looked over to his left arm, realizing that his ribbon was no longer there. His blue eyes wandered to the red ribbon lying dormant on his bed where Aerith was and grabbed it, laying it gently in his palm and examined it with the most confused and saddened face.

Was she really here...? He continued to stare hard at the red ribbon in his palm and sat there, thinking about his lost beloved.

A/n : Hey there! Well this idea came from a fan art titled 'good morning' by purgatory0207 from deviantart. I came across it, and it gave me this lovely idea for a cloud and aerith story! The art features Cloud and Aerith and if you want to see it, just search " good morning cloud and aerith " on deviantart(dot com)
I kinda like how this was written out. I tried to create this mood, not sure what the mood was supposed to be but hopefully you guys got something from reading this. :)

Writer's block still plagues me, but don't worry, I'll still have stories written (although in a slower pace). Hopefully this "plague" will disappear and I'll have more stories submitted quicker.
Reviews are welcomed and will be appreciated and loved.
