Blue Moon
31st July, 2015.
England look up into the night sky at the full bright moon that hung in the sky, not just a full moon but a Blue Moon, the second full moon to occur in the same month. It was only just within the same month but it counted and it would not happen again for another three years. He stood on a hill in the bright moonlight on this mid-summer night, feeling a little lonely, even surrounded by the stars. He wanted to share this with someone, someone special who touches his heart, someone whom he cared for with his entire being.
The Blue Moon was like a spotlight on England's loneliness as he searched the stars, seeking out Sirius, The Plough and the North Star but his eye was always drawn back to the Blue Moon (that was not actually blue, surprisingly). He should have brought his boyfriend with him to see this, rather than just being stood here on his own.
"England-san!"
England turned toward the voice to see Japan hurrying up the hill toward him, clad in his kimono. He made his way to England's side, a little winded.
"Gomen'nasai! (Sorry!)" he said with a little bow. "I did not mean to be late. I was delayed by a phone call from my boss." England smiled and, putting his arms around Japan, kissed him lightly on the lips.
"You're here now," he replied. "That's all that counts!" And he gave Japan a firmer kiss and hugged him close. Japan was not very comfortable with hugs, unless they came from England and he hugged him back.
"I remember the last time we met on a hill like this," England reminisced. "I wanted you to become my friend and form an alliance …..."
"And my boss had signed an treaty with Russia instead," Japan replied. "You were upset that I had made an alliance with him while still talking with you. My boss made the alliance without discussing it with me but I wanted to become allied with you."
"And you did," England smiled. "You know, I think I fell in love with you at first sight." Japan smiled back at England.
"I believe you called me a 'small, strange man'," he chuckled and England had the grace to look shame-faced.
"You took me by surprise," he replied. "You gave me a fright when you suddenly opened your door like that. And I was scared when I was attracted to you so fast."
"I liked you too," Japan admitted. "Which was why I wanted the alliance. I grew to love you as time went on. It was the worst time of my life when our bosses separated us in WWII."
"I hated it too," England replied. "But that's in the past now. We'll never be parted again if I can help it. Now, let's just enjoy the Blue Moon." Japan looked up at the bright ball in the night sky.
"It looks gold to me," he commented. England chuckled and wrapped his arms around Japan from behind, his loneliness abated as he enjoyed the Blue Moon with the one he loved!
Enjoy the Blue Moon tonight! If you can see it, it's cloudy here, right now!
Hasta la Pasta!
