Just Paintballing

For Armani who took me paintballing for the first time.

Silence is your best friend,

No one should know your secrets,

Your game plan; your tactics; are your greatest advantages,

You side step; roll your feet as you walk,

Careful and cautious you don't want to be exposed,

The trees brush against you; giving you cover,

Inhale from your nose; exhale from your mouth,

Calm; stay calm,

Someone may cover your front,

But whose got your back?

Step; breathe; look left; look right; breathe; step; duck; aim; rise; repeat,

Your enemies will do the same; TOP THAT!

Be ahead; be alert; be aware,

Guard yourself,

Chest protectors; masks and pads are your allies,

Any blow can be lethal,

Foster yourself from the shots,

Each shot is different,

Red; purple; blue; orange,

Vibrant blotches all hitting you at once,

You stagger back; lose your balance,

You fall but can you get back up?

"Medic! Medic! Medic!" you call,

Can anyone here you?

Will the medic come?

Head shots can't be healed,

And this is just playing the game by its rules,

The game can change,

Search and Rescue; King of the Hill or even just plain teams,

You have to survive and complete your mission,

The game can't change your goals or your objectives,

So in the end; despite the teams this is a free-for-all,

And when the game is over and they ask you,

"How was it?"

You stand tall,

Colorful; scratched; bold and tall,

And you say,

"I was just living life, paintballing".

Did you like it? Life is just like a paintball game.
