A/N: After 4 years of working on my OC and her backstory and how I'm going to set it up, I'm finally completed everything and I'm most certainly proud of myself for my hard work and it really pays off well, I hope you guys like this and I can't wait to write more STCB fanfics with my OC :)
Disclaimer: I do not own the characters of Sometimes They Come Back, they rightfully belong to Stephen King, the only thing I own is my OC Chyna Florez.
My Papi's side of the family is pretty famous for their work with the supernatural and they're kinda a threat to them in certain ways. I can see why though, they've gotten rid of demons and sent them back where they belonged, went up against ghosts, fought against werewolves, zombies, you name it! I could name some more
I've met a lot of interesting supernatural folks in my life myself. From my experience, some were pretty cool, some were even sweethearts, some I kinda ended up making friends with, some were just misunderstood and some were just plain assholes who they needed a reality check. I'm sorry not sorry but somebody had to, they were just so up their own asses and it just annoyed the hell outta me that I just had to put them in their place.
Then there are some who just... Feel the need to come around more often than others.
Kinda like these three dead greasers that I know by the names of Lawson, Vinnie and North, and when I mean they come around, I mean they come around more than any supernatural folk I've ever met. Not saying they come around here every day because they don't, just more than others. I don't mind though, I enjoy their company most of the time.
First time I met them, it was around the beginning of the summertime. School had just ended and my fifteenth birthday was just around the corner and I couldn't wait till my huge birthday fiesta! I just couldn't sleep for a week just thinking about it.
Unfortunately, something got in the way and we, well, had to postpone it to next weekend thanks to, yep you guessed it! We had some more supernatural run-ins going on at the moment.
I whined to Papi, WHY?! Why on all days that it had to be on my special day?!
Now don't get me wrong, I love my part time job with him, I love using my gift to help others but some days I just don't feel like going. I just wanna hang around with friends, do my favorite hobbies, sometimes stay in bed all day or even go to parties with other teens.
Then Papi looks at me and is like, "Aww Look on the bright side, we're getting paid this time on the job and that money will be part of your birthday gift. And besides, you like coming to work with me, not only that it's part of your training" then he ruffled up my hair knowing I hate when he does that.
I highly doubt that he'd give me most of the money we're getting paid for, with his cheap self.
Mami got on him really good for making me go with him to deal with the supernatural going on in another town somewhat kinda far away from here and even got into an argument with him about it, but he begged and promised to make it up to me as soon as we got back. She doesn't play when it comes to protecting me, she's as sweet as sugar but she's a total firecracker as well and she won't hesitate to give you a piece of her mind, I kinda see why he fell in love with her.
The reason I made the decision to go is because he told me it was extremely important situation. He always says that every time I say I don't feel like going with him on certain days and since it was part of my training... yeah.
Anyways, he got a call from some rich guy saying that he and his family got kicked out of their own mansion by those guys and wanted us to convince them to get out for good and never come back.
Wasn't easy because stuff like this is such a challenge, at least for me though. I'm still a rookie at this thing, I have been since he let me start doing this at thirteen years old. He's been doing this for a long time so sometimes I be thinking to myself, "It can't do this, I can't do this, I don't know what I'm doing!" but at least give it a shot and try anyway later on.
So yeah, I pretty much spend my birthday weekend trying to get undead greasers to get out of a rich family's home.
When we went in there, it was HUGE! Como maldita! It was absolutely gorgeous! It had a pool and everything, I'd be lying if I said I wanted to stay a little longer and hang out there forever. I kinda can see why they chose that place to take over! Not that I'm saying it's right to haunt anyone's house in that matter buuuut... Forget I said anything.
It was a trip trying to find them because they didn't show themselves at first, I felt their energy and it said to me that they have no intentions of killing the family or anyone for that matter, I sense that's already been done in the past but now? Nope, not anymore. At least, not at the moment. I felt some feelings of guilt, regret, sorrow and the feelings of being stuck, but on the outside, they never show that to me nor feel the need to talk about it with me. I feel like they cover that up with this exterior where they're like acting goofy or tough and they don't think I know that. However, I respect the fact that they don't wanna talk about how they're really feeling, they'll talk about their feelings when they want to or ready. I won't force them, unlike Papi who sometimes tries to force things to happen when they don't happen as quickly as he wants them to.
I tried to telepathically convince them to come out and talk to us, Papi tried too but they just didn't answer back and just blocked us from doing so. Instead in response, they were throwing random objects at us and kept pushing and tripping us like it was funny. Papi was getting pissed off at them and even insulted and threatened them to show themselves or else.
See what I mean when he gets impatient and tries to forcefully make things happen when that's not the way life works?
Although, I'd be lying if I said his insults towards them weren't funny as hell! Like I wanted to crack up but then he'd get on my case too, I know how he is when people be making fun of him. He acts like he's a hard ass on the outside but deep, deep down inside, he's a sensitive man. He doesn't like me bringing it up but he knows it's the truth, which is why he gets snappy when I tease him about it.
We had little luck of finding them the first night and unfortunately we ended up spending the night over there. We slept in the closet that the greasers locked and put us in as some prank they pulled on us, and man oh man, Papi was heated and to be honest, I was getting, well, let's just say extremely irritated and frustrated at the time. I tried not to let that slip into anger because that's what the reaction they'd want from me. Unfortunately, Papi ate it up like chocolate pudding.
It took hours for me to get him to calm down, I tried Mami's tactics on trying to get someone to calm down and I was surprised it worked on him.
The next day was... quite interesting.
That day was my fifteenth birthday, and I decided I was gonna give it another try and try to connect with them telepathically. You'd think I'd given up already but I tried and tried, and told them I wasn't gonna hurt them or threatened them (Unlike papi) until one of them answered me and told me to meet them in the game room at 4pm but I have to come alone. Papi didn't like the idea of me being alone with guys, whether they're undead or not. Plus, he doesn't think I can handle situations like this on my own, which is kinda unfair on my part.
I was kinda annoyed at him at this point and told him, "Papi, for god sakes! This is probably the only chance for me to talk them into leaving the house and you want that to fail just because what? They're boys?"
"YES!" He shouted at me.
I had no other choice but to pull out my secret weapon. I poked out my lip and did a sad face, "Pleeeease? Por favor?" He could never resist when I did that, there's no way he'd ever say no to it no matter how much he wanted to. "It's my birthday today, so pleeease let me handle this on my own? Pwetty please with cwerries on top?" I begged him in faux baby talk.
I did some obnoxious singing with that, He sighed heavily and turned away from me, rubbing the palms of his hands on his face. I did that for like two minutes until he finally had enough and finally agreed to let me go meet the guys in the game room but he says he'll be right near the door listening if something happens.
When I finally got to meet them in person... I gotta be honest, I thought they were pretty cute, BUT not the point here! Anyways, when I finally got to meet them, it surprisingly turned out pretty okay. They were playing pool and they offered me to me to join them but I let them know that I wasn't here for that and they knew that. It was almost like they were trying to distract me from the fact that I was gonna convince them to getting out of the damn house, and it really showed.
They even offered me to smoke with them and I was like Um? No? That's long cancer waiting to happen.
I heard Vinnie say under his breath that I was a "goody two shoes", well sorry for not getting interested.
Apparently, the reason why they didn't choose to talk to me yesterday is because they were too busy having fun messing with me and Papi, another reason was because he was being an asshole towards them and kept threatening them, and the last reason was because they didn't feel like it at that time.
I mean, they knew I was being patient and non threatening towards them the whole time, I guess that's why they wanted me to come hang out with them alone.
They told me their names, their full names but told me to call them, Lawson, Vinnie and North. I was fine with that.
"So, while we're here, we didn't really catch your name, doll" Lawson said, leaning on the pool table with a smirk on his face and looking at me dead in my eyes. He was obviously trying to flirt with me, he was so lucky Papi wasn't here in this room with me. He wouldn't be having that.
I sighed, "My name is Chyna Florez, and I'm just gonna ask-" They then bust out laughing, North's pitch laughter nearly overpowering theirs. They began to crack jokes and everything much to my annoyance.
Damn, I know my name is a little... Unusual but, eh I can kinda see why people would make fun of it but I think it's a pretty name.
I got annoyed at them making fun of my name and got straight to the point with them. I sternly asked them why the hell did they scare that rich family out of their own house and decided to make it, how they describe it in the fifties? Their turf.
They told me that they were bored of living in the car and driving around all day and night long and they decided to find a new place to crash in, eat in and sleep in.
I told them that I understood completely but they can't just kick people out of their homes, but they protested, telling me there's nothing I can do or say to make them convince them to leave and that I was wasting my time even though I told them it was literally my job to do such thing.
At that time, I thought this was gonna be harder than I thought it was gonna be.
"What the hell do I do? I need to think of something fast!" I thought anxiously.
Then I looked at the pool table then at them, a light bulb popped up above my head. "Hmmm" I rubbed my chin like a cartoon villain coming up with some evil plan.
"Alright, I got a deal for you guys"
They shared some glances with each other with a raised eyebrow but at the same time they were interested in what I had in store.
"Let's settle this with a game of pool" That, to me was a bad mistake because I was never that great at pool, let alone won it but I wanted to at least try.
"Alright, doll. We're all ears, what's the deal?" asked Lawson, smirking.
"And it better be good" added Vinnie, giving me a glare and crossed his arms.
"Okay, Ustedes escuchen atentamente"
"HUH?!" They all exclaimed at the same time. I forgot that they didn't speak that language, sometimes my Spanish accidentally slips out to people who don't speak it.
"What did she say?" North asked Vinnie, who shrugged in response.
"Could you repeat that again? We couldn't understand you the first time" said Lawson.
"Oh sorry about that," I chuckled awkwardly, "What I meant to say was Okay guys. Listen carefully, If I win this, one, y'all gotta get the hell up outta here"
Okay, I'd admit, that last part was a little rude on my part, it's probably the slight frustration that I having right now talking.
They shared glances with each other, shrugged then nodded in agreement.
"And two, since today is my birthday today and pretty much spoiled it for me dealing with your foolishness, y'all gotta go and get me something nice before the week is over."
"Okay then, and what about if we win," Lawson went on, "We stay hang here forever and permanently make it our official place and you and oh, I take you out on date sometime" He said that last part with a huge grin.
I raised an eyebrow, "Um, excuse me? What was that last part again?"
"You heard me, doll" he gave me a cocky smirk. "You gotta do it if you lose"
I heavily blushed at the thought of that, You couldn't tell because my brown skin was saving me from blushing physically.
All I said was, "Wow, um okay then"
And at that moment, I just really had to win this! Otherwise, they'd stay here forever, and papi would be so disappointed in me and at the same time, he'd kill Lawson if he heard that he asked me out the way he did was part of the deal.
As much as I hated their deal as they probably didn't like mine, I had to accept that in order for this job to be done. I knew I was no champ at pool but Papi and that rich family were counting on me.
"Deal!" I said.
"Deal!" Lawson also said as we shook hands. "And by the way happy birthday"
"Yeah thanks" I chuckled.
"Let me guess? You just turned twelve?" Vinnie teased.
I rolled my eyes. "No, actually I just turned fifteen" I say to him with an attitude in my voice. You know, I never understood why he liked picking on me and being mildly rude to me sometimes. I guess he likes to get under my skin.
Anyways, before we started the game, I told Papi what I've just done and he was not happy. He knew I wasn't the best at pool and we both agreed it wasn't the best idea I ever came up with, but he offered to help me on how to win anyway. He was really good at playing it and he told me all his little secrets and hacks to winning. Which really made me happy that gave me them.
However, he said if I lose, he'll never bring to things like this ever again and I definitely didn't want that.
Vinnie kept teasing me calling me, "chicken shit" who was afraid to lose. Okay I'll let him slide with that one, but I rolled my eyes in response.
I felt my heart beating rapidly as I was ready to play the game but I kept telling myself I can do this, I can do this. At first, I didn't really know what I was doing but then I remembered to use Papi's tactics and moves and ooh, how I remembered them so well.
They thought I would never do it and neither would I, they thought I wouldn't be kicking their butts at something that wasn't my major talent but jokes on them because I did! And they were quite surprised and a bit impressed too with the moves that I just displayed (thanks to my "old man") and at the same time, I was too.
However, I felt kinda bad that they didn't have anywhere else to live so I had a small talk with Papi about helping them find a place to live but he said "HELL NO! After what they put me through, They can find it their damn selves! You can but leave me the hell out of it!"
He's so mean sometimes buuuut I kinda do understand the stress they put him through though so yeah.
I promised them that I'd find a nice place for them to live in, but there was only one condition, they had to get me something for my birthday first and that was the other part of the deal.
So after that, they left the house and the rich family thanked us for doing the job and paid us the money. Papi surprisingly gave me more than I expected him to since well. I was the one who pretty much got them out so he owed me than he thought.
I had my birthday fiesta on Friday and it absolutely turned out to be a fantastic success, expect the part where the twins tried to put their grubby little hands on my birthday cake, yeeeeah I wasn't having that at all.
After the party was over, I was exhausted, so exhausted that I wanted to be in bed for a week. Mami called me downstairs and told me that these "really nice boys" came by and left me presents from them each.
She said she never seen them around before and I told them that they were ghost greasers that I met a while back. She didn't really react in a way you thought she should have because she was so used to undead folks like them stopping by to come see me.
From Lawson, it was a diamond necklace in a small box. it was really beautiful and I'm not gonna lie, I pretty much blushed when he left a note that said "Happy birthday Chy :) hope you don't mind if I call you that. And I hope you like this gift ~ Lawson."
And the P.S. part was how he enjoyed last weekend and that he thinks I seem cool, and he'd love for me to hang out with them if I'm busy, that we could be friends and that stuff. I needed some time to think about that.
From Vinnie, surprisingly, he got me something nice too. He got me a red jean jacket with some rips on it to make it look cool. Not gonna lie, that was pretty sweet coming from him.
And finally from North, he got me a cute little blue teddy bear with a hoodie on it. He named it Mr. Cuddles which was an adorable name, I'll admit.
As for the new place I promised them, I actually found one for them, it's at an abandoned yellow house a little far from here in Ohio, someone just moved out of there recently so it doesn't look that beat up and they loved it.
Now that I think about it, I feel like the reason they like to come around me now more than others is because I have an understanding of them more than other people do, and feel like they can talk to me about anything and if they have a problem without feeling like they're about to be judged. I have a feeling they never had that type of kindness towards them before, from their time of being alive and their undead lives.
Soooo yeah! And that's how I met the greasers. Now they're pretty much one of my closest friends now, well, Vinnie is an exception since eh, he really doesn't consider me as a friend because we don't always get along most of the time but eh it's whatever.
The End!
Not really but to close this little backstory. it's just the beginning of more of all the crazy shit that I'm about to tell you guys next time in the adventures of Chyna and her supernatural shenanigans!
