Dylan I'm scared, I'm no good at slipstreaming." Whispered a
petrified Trance from the Pilots Seat.
"that's why your practicing trance to get better." replied Dylan patiently.
"She could hardly get worse" quipped Tyr from the weapons consul. The remark earned him a glare form Dylan and a smack on the back of the head from Beka.
"Don't insult your pilot Tyr," Advised the blond first officer "It's anti-survival. And Trance Rule one of piloting is don't listen to grouchy Nietszchean back seat drivers just visualize where you want to go and the slipstream will take you there."
What if I make a wrong turn?" asked trance in a worried tone.
"You can't" answered Rommie "the very act of making the turn makes it correct, that's how the slipstream works."
"Well here goes nothing" the ship lurched into slipstream and sped along the strings for a few minutes until it dropped into normal space so quickly the crew had to struggle to stay standing.
"Rommie, report" barked Dylan
"Did I break it?" asked Trance
"well the good news is that were still in the same time period and there is no structural damage"" replied Rommie.
"and the bad news?" asked Dylan.
"we're nowhere near Castelia as close as I can tell were on the outskirts of Drago-Katzoff space."
"It gets worse" said Beka "sensors are detecting a convoy of Drago-Katzoff ships about five light seconds of the starboard bow. It looks like five fighters and a cargo ship of some kind."
"Hail them maybe we can talk our way out of a confrontation" ordered Dylan
"Dylan I don't think these guys want to chat" replied Beka

"They've just activated their weapons"
