Spongebob woke up and smiled. "Gooooooood Morning, Gary!!! Isn't it a beautiful day?" Gary meowed in response. "I'd better get ready for work!" Spongebob cried.
At work, Spongebob strolled in the door. "Great day, huh, Squidward?"
Squidward looked up from his mopping and said, "It was until you walked through that door."
Spongebob was oblivious to the insult. He danced into the kitchen, humming, and began to make patties. Outside, at the counter, Squidward winced as the humming reached him. "Spongebob, stop making that obnoxious noise!" Spongebob did not notice, however, as he was twirling around the kitchen.
A customer walked in the door. After Squidward took his order, Spongebob poked his head out the kitchen window. "Hello, customer!"
Squidward sighed.
The customer grinned and yelled, "Hello, yellow fry cook!"
"Customer, this is my friend Squidward." Spongebob looked proud. "He is my best friend!"
Squidward glared at Spongebob, but Spongebob just smiled proudly.
Later, Squidward was washing tables. Spongebob was getting ready to go. Squidward went to get a drink, as he was thirsty, so Spongebob decided to wash tables while Squidward took a break. Mr. Krabs came out of his office and say Spongebob washing tables.
"Squid!" Mr. Krabs yelled. "Look at Spongebob! Doing your job, while you take a break! If you were more like him, we'd all be making me more money! Now, I've got to go count me money!" Mr. Krabs hurried into his office.
"But Mr. Krabs," Spongebob said, but Mr. Krabs was already out of hearing.
"Gimme that!" cried Squidward angrily, taking the rag from Spongebob. "Go away, now! I'm tired of you. You're always embarrasing me, or annoying me, or stealing credit from me! Go home; I hate you Spongebob!"
"Squid?" Spongebob said, tentatively.
"Go! Home!!"
Spongebob left, wondering why Squidward did not like him any more.
That night, Spongebob was watching the news, only half paying attention. He had called Squidward, and knocked on Squidward's door, but Squidward had ignored him all afternoon. He suddenly became alert as the newsfish said, "Remember, today was Do-Something-You-Wouldn't-Normally-Do-Day! So if any of you're friends were mean to you, you know why." Spongebob smiled. Tomorrow, he and Squidward could be friends again!
