"Despair / Belief"
Note: I know for a fact that Omega / Director is not an established pairing. However. Supergirrl brought it up somewhere, I said I'd pay money to see it, and a few sheets of paper and some inspiration later, this was the result. It was a bit hard to write, yes, but very interesting -- to say the least. (Trivia regarding this : I considered making it a twoshot, but when it turned out that the first part was only 120 words, I realized that that would be an utterly ridiculous thing to do. So it's what it says on the tin, a oneshot in two parts.) Reviews are appreciated -- especially crit about IC.
Both Omega and Marian Janssen are the property of James Patterson, and I mean no disrespect by using them here. In addition, although this is rated T, consider that a high T for very blatant innuendo.
I have been so many people, and for so long, that I've forgotten if there even was a "me" somewhere in the mess of other faces I have worn -- the faces that have worn me. Most of them were for her. Whom I sometimes call Marian. Or Doctor Janssen. Or Miss Janssen. Or Mistress. I remember all of them. I cannot forget.
I have been worn by the misbehaving schoolboy for Miss Janssen. The innocent pizza boy for Marian. The curious patient for Doctor Janssen. The Jewish prisoner for Mistress.
But it doesn't matter what name she puts on, or which façade I wear. Because in the end, she always forgets and calls me 'Mega, the pet name I've never hated more.
She doesn't even know why, exactly.
Except she remembers thinking at some point that it would be terribly interesting. She remembers trying to justify it as some kind of experiment... then finally admitting it had nothing to do with science and everything to do with lust.
There is something about him, that's all. The shadowed interest behind those singular eyes -- unprecedented before, irreproducible now. The way he puts on and takes off personas with the ease of a lifelong actor. Something she cannot define in the set of his shoulders, the movement of his hands. There is something cold and far in him when he wears her favorite personas. Distance.
She was always an optimist, anyway. And she still believes that some night when she calls him 'Mega he will not return to his barracks rather than sleep beside her, but remain and call her by name. Even though he still wears that unsettling mask, she still believes.
