"HACHOO," a loud sneeze exploded from a shivering Cosima who was lying in the centre of a large bed, covered by many layers of burgundy bedsheets.
She knew she should have worn her red coat to that party the other night but due to her tardiness, she hectically stormed out of her apartment she shared with her girlfriend and didn't realise how cold it was until the freezing snowy wind blew about her dainty stature. And that was when she became aware of her missing red coat.
"Are you sure you've just caught a cold, ma chérie?" a pair of worried eyes of a curly-haired woman sitting at the side of the bed scanned the haggard petite woman sniffing with a hazy lop-sided grin.
"Because a cold shouldn't last this long." Concern was written all over Delphine's visage.
"Yeah, totes, I'm gonna be super fit in a day or two," Cosima said gruffly, giving her girlfriend the goofiest smile she managed in her state of illness.
"Pauvre petit chiot," Delphine teased lovingly whilst reaching out to cup Cosima's reddish face.
"Mon dieu, Cosima!" she jumped panically.
"You're burning up!"
"Huh?"
But before the startled woman could say or ask anything else, Delphine stood up and darted to the kitchen, grabbing a few packages of medicine, a glass of water, and a pack of tissues on her way back to her feverish lover who was now coughing meekly.
Ever since Cosima's disease, her coughing was the sound which drove Delphine absolutely insane, reminding her of the possibility that Cosima could have died with any bloody cough.
"There there," she cooed softly, handing Cosima two rather colourful pills and the glass of water.
"You'll feel better after you've taken these, je te promêts," she whispered into her lover's ear, caressing her hot cheek and planting a careful kiss on her flaming forehead.
"Or you could give me another kiss because I'm sure it'll do magic," Cosima suggested coarsely and swallowed the pills, drinking the whole glass of water.
"Cheeky," Delphine smiled and placed another kiss on her grinning girlfriend's cheek.
Delphine draped her longing lips along Cosima's jawline, sending little electric shocks through Cosima's sore body, reviving her exhausted senses, until they finally found their way to her chapped yet lively lips.
After what seemed to both of them like a fraction of a second, Cosima pulled away reluctantly.
"Don't want you to get sick too," she explained apologetically.
"Bien, that's a risk I'm willing to take," she breathed against Cosima's pulsing point and nibbled hungrily at her collar bone, causing Cosima to gulp audibly.
Delphine's hands brushed through Cosima's dreads, finding their way back to her lover's face where they lingered.
The two women locked gaze and in each other's eyes they saw more than what the milky way full of wandering stars, little moons, and wondrous planets had to offer. It seemed like they read each other's thoughts, each other's soul, feeling how their vigorous hearts beat in sync.
Their needy lips met again, this time dancing against each other fiercely savouring every passionate movement until Cosima pulled away suddenly to sneeze forcefully.
"Ugh, I'm sorry. Did I destroy the moment?"
Delphine laughed at the sulking girl who blew her nose into a tissue.
