Between Friends
There are some interests friends can share, and others they can't.
Though she and Miharu use the same style of fighting, Xiaoyu thinks she's faster, has more experience with the different techniques. Besides, it was she who learned it first.
Miharu likes to consider herself fashionable. Although she and Xiaoyu often swap clothes, she always secretly likes the outfit she offers to her friend better.
Xiaoyu is always there for her friends, but she just can't understand how the girl can go on and on about the latest gossip. She sometimes sets the phone down and does something else for a while, knowing full well Miharu will still be rambling about that whore two seats in front of her when she returns.
Miharu doesn't particularly enjoy going to the cinema anymore. Xiaoyu somehow manages to talk her into seeing horror flicks, then yelps in fright and spills the snacks whenever a character opens a closet door.
No matter what Xiaoyu says, Miharu will never stop biting her nails. Giving her friend a manicure is always a chore because Xiaoyu can never tell where the varying lengths of her nails end and her fingers begin.
To be quite honest, Miharu doesn't like rollercoasters. If she can get away quickly enough, she ducks behind the balloon stand as Xiaoyu is getting in the ticket line and later pretends to have gotten lost in the crowd.
One subject both girls are interested in, however, is Jin Kazama.
There are some interests friends can share.
He isn't one of them.
A flick of the wrist, a toss of the hair, a subtle smile. The game has begun.
A harmless game between friends, of course.
