Tried to write a drabble ended up being a hundred and five words too long :) Another missing scene as Jim recovers.

As acting captain of the U.S.S. Enterprise Spock had a million things to do. There was one he held in utmost importance. Jim Kirk was still recovering in Sickbay. Dr. McCoy said he was doing much better but not cleared for duty yet. Spock stepped into Sickbay and moved to the more private area where Kirk was. Jim smiled at the science officer.
"Spock."
"Captain."
Sitting down in the visitor's chair Spock placed the medium sized data padd he was carrying on the table that crossed the bed. He activated the correct program and a three dimensional hologram of a chess game appeared.
"Ready?"Spock asked they'd been playing daily and Jim was improving.
"I'm going to beat you this time."Kirk announced as he tapped a key on the screen to make the first move.
Spock raised an eyebrow but remained silent. Jim grinned as Spock moved the next piece. The game wasn't just a distraction for Jim. It was helping Spock as well. Reassuring him that his friend was still here; still the same.
"You are improving, Captain."The half-Vulcan responded. "However, the odds of you winning..."
Jim shook his head in amusement. "Just play, Spock."
They played two games that day each winning one.
