David Strider,

By the time this letter arrives, I will probably be dead. Don't hope that I am and come looking for me. The world has gotten dangerous ever since the disease had spread. Thank God you had gotten your shots beforehand. Anyways, along with this letter there should be a notebook with my name on it. I have taken the time to write up a survival guide in case you decide to leave our island. It has notes about the creatures that I have encountered while on my journey to find other survivors. Again, please don't come and find me. I don't want you to be disappointed when you find my body.

Sincerely,

Dirk Strider

Dave read over his brother's letter for the fifth time. He was still in shock that his own brother, possibly the coolest guy on the planet, could be dead. Looking over at his backpack, the young man decided that he would indeed go out to find his brother, dead or not. Dirk had been the closest thing to parents that he had. Dave knew he had to be alive somewhere.

"Dirk, where could you have gone? Please don't be in any trouble…" he said, talking to himself. With no one around, talking to himself had kept him company. He wondered if he would start to go insane from the quiet and emptiness of the house.

There were already a few things packed in his bag just in case he wanted to venture out for some supplies and food. Dirk's katanas would not fit so Dave decided to just carry some. He put together another bag for things like bandages, paper, and any little tools that could come in handy. The solar powered flashlight would also have to go in there.

'Oh…can't forget Dirk's survival guide thing, can I? What kind of creatures could there even be…?'

Curious, Dave opened up to the first page. Taped to the front cover was a picture of his brother and him. He stared at it for a moment, feeling his eyes tear up. Occasionally Dave would think back to the times before the apocalypse happened but now, just looking at this picture, made him miss his brother even more. He wiped the tears away and put the book down into his big backpack. Now was definitely not the time to be crying over some dumb picture anyways. He had to get a move on if he wanted to be absolutely sure of finding Dirk soon.

Anyways, this is going to be my first time writing an adventurous story so forgive me if it's bad ; u; Constructive criticism is always appreciated, or review for the heck of it! Let me know that this story interest you!
