Author's Note: This is very much AU. I never really explain the situations that got Rei and Usagi into this, but I wanted to leave it up to your own imagination. Were they assassins? Did they get involved in a huge war? That's up to you. Or of course, if I get reviews, then maybe I'll make some prequels…
Disclaimer: I don't own Sailor Moon or the title to this story either…
"Don't Cry For Me with Sailor Eyes"
Rei walked the busy city streets of Tokyo, her long trench coat billowing in the wind and rain. I should have picked my hair up. She thought as her long raven black hair continuously got in front of her face, obstructing her vision. The weather was horrible. The night sky was lanced with lightning and rang with thunder. Rei's grip tightened on her sword. She had business to take care of, no matter what the weather.
There. Rei stopped at the base of they tallest skyscraper in Tokyo. Seemingly with no effort, she crouched low to the ground then jumped to a 7th story window. Then a second later, she jumped again, to the 14th. She continued jumping until she reached the roof of the building. She straightened her coat and looked around.
Her opponent was already there. Her long blonde hair was in her signature buns at the top of her head. Rei looked into her old friend's eyes. So blue…Rei's opponent, Usagi's, eyes were the bluest eyes Rei had ever seen. Sometimes they were a clear blue, reflecting the pure happiness she felt. At other times, they were cloudy; showing how deep her anger, pain, or sorrow ran. Rei could always tell Usagi's emotions by looking at her eyes. Today, they matched the sky.
"So, you came," Usagi muttered. There was a brief instant when both girls were illuminated by a sudden flash of lightning. Rei saw that Usagi was trying not to show any emotion. "Oh course I did. Business is business. You know this better than I do…" Rei paused as a peal of thunder cut her off. Then, "Did you have any…second thoughts Rei?" Rei looked at Usagi's eyes. Sadness. We both had second thoughts about this.
"No." Both girls drew their swords. "We both turned out hearts to ice awhile back…When we first got into this mess." Usagi nodded, knowing that they both didn't want to do this. Knowing that they would both be dying inside as they fought. "Yes…" They both stood there, waiting for the other to make the first move. Five minutes…ten minutes…thirty…an hour…Not one of them made a move. They just stood there in the rain and thunder, their clothes flapping around them, getting drenched… Rei couldn't tell in the rain and darkness, but years later, she swore that she saw those blue eyes spilling tears…
End
Author's note: So, what do you think? Should I make some prequels? And thanks to Puffy Marshmallow who helped me out with the spelling and grammar.
