I am not a monster baring teeth and claws and fear
When Ghetsis was just beginning his journey, he had two traveling companions: a teenager named Drayden, and a girl called Hakuro. You know them both as responsible and masterful, though perhaps a bit unsettling as adults. They were different as kids. Reckless and ready to try anything once. Wonderful children, though a bit stuck up.
I am not an evil to be banished out of here
Drayden was the one who thought of it first. "Wouldn't it be nice to rule the world?"
"I don't like the rest of the world, but sure, I'd like to rule Unova," Ghetsis had replied. Hakuro blinked, and the gears began to turn in her head. "Then let's plan our takeover!" she exclaimed. When the boys looked at her questioningly, she said simply, "Reshiram."
I am not a villain to be locked up for all time
"See, all we have to do is find a kid and raise him or her to be the true hero, so Reshiram will accept them. Then he'll beat the Elite Four and become the Champion, and he'll tell everybody in Unova to release their Pokemon. And everyone will. Except us, of course. And once nobody else has Pokemon, we'll be able to control them all with ours!"
I am not a madman with no use for hope or rhyme
"And we have to have ninjas. Ninjas are cool." Drayden had said.
Hakuro was writing this all down. "Yeah! We'll have a castle and royal whatevers too!"
"Where do we get this hero?" Ghetsis demanded. "None of us are true enough. This entire plot is a lie. Who is going to be our true hero, to fight with Reshiram?" They didn't know.
I am a but a child that was and now is not
Years passed. The three of them all became famous trainers, comparable to the Elite Four, even. Drayden was the first to recognize the plan as selfish and the slightest bit evil. Hakuro began to think of it as a joke. Then one day Ghetsis disappeared, and he when he came back he was leading a small boy by the hand. "He is an orphan," he said, "And I adopted him."
I am but a schemer who was always told to rot
"You don't mean to finish our old plan, Ghetsis?" Hakuro said, amazed. He nodded. "And I want to know if you will help me. To be his mother, in a word."
Hakuro looked regretful. "I'm sorry, Ghetsis, but the most wonderful man in the world proposed to me, and we're engaged and...good luck. Try it for Drayden and me."
I am but a father who competed for my son
That was the last time Hakuro heard of him. Another long time passed, in which her daughter was born and grew. When she was six Hakuro took her to Opelucid City, to visit Drayden.
He was holding a baby, maybe a week old. "Her parents died two days ago," Drayden explained. "I didn't think a person could be innocent of lies or fault, but here she is."
I am but a runner who fought and almost won.
N fulfilled as best as he could the original plan-just as Ghetsis had said many years ago he would. Hilda did her best to keep everything balanced- just like Hakuro tried to be equal with everyone. Iris was helpful just like Drayden had been, so long ago. Ghetsis mourned secretly that they could have been friends just as their guardians, but he did not say it aloud.
I am not a terror or power-hungry freak,
I am but a person who (behind the mask) is weak.
