And then he hovered a few inches above the air, chuckling as Amanda stared with her mouth agape – out of loss of words to even describe the sight she was seeing.
"Jesus, Holy… You, oh my god – what? How?" She breathed, turning pale with both amazement and disbelief.
He smiled with satisfaction and pride, his eyes twinkling. "Watch this. You haven't seen anything yet," Then he flew upward so fast wind blast into Amanda's face causing her hair to fly in all places.
She looked up in the blue sky to see him soaring above with his arms outstretched, doing moves in the air, manoeuvring his body and doing flips. He descended slowly to the ground and landed in the spot he was seconds before, in front of Amanda who had her hand to her chest.
"That's your ability? Freaking flying?" she looked at him and shook her head, putting her fingers to her head as if she was imagining this whole thing. But she wasn't, and she knew that. She's seen crazy things – hell, her life is a big bubble of craziness. Her mum is a bloody mind reader and her Dad… well, if only she knew what his ability was. As far as Amanda can tell, she has no ability, and maybe her Father didn't have one, too. Maybe she inherited most of his genes rather than her Mother's.
He put his hands into his pockets and watched Amanda carefully, though his mouth twitched. "Yeah," he confirmed. He took a step closer…
She stepped back and shot him a look of warning. "I swear, Jeremy, if you're planning to take me up there and fly with you…"
Jeremy chuckled slightly and raked his hands through his brown hair. "Chill, Faulkner," he said. "I wouldn't do such a thing."
She looked at him sceptically. But she noticed that his shoulders seemed more relaxed, and overall he looked pretty comfortable having his secret out to her, as if he's been carrying this burden for quite a long time and hasn't spoken about his ability to anyone. And it was a good look on him too.
"I still… it's hard to process all this," she said. "These powers… that people on earth possess these abilities that have only existed in the fictional world. It's incredible, but unnerving at the same time."
"Soon you'll figure it out," he said cryptically. "I know it… you're destined too," he said, his voice unexpectedly low.
"I'm destined to?" she repeated, raising an eyebrow and smiling, not taking this seriously. "Okay Mr Crystal ball, tell me, what is my destiny?"
He grinned as if he knew a secret. "That's not my place to tell; only you know."
She put her hand on her cheek in a way that Jeremy loved and adored most. Shaking her head and looking at the ground, she said, "I'm not going to talk about this," she tried to suppress her smile, "You can fly like superman and my mum is a telepath, God, I only know a quarter of life's mysteries."
"Me and you," he said. "We can unravel the rest."
