As she watched, the red light blinked on and off, then on and off again. It continued its blinking as the timer ticked steadily downward. The bomb was just out of Tyrani's reach. Normally that wouldn't be a problem for the female Jedi, but the mercenary had left her unable to move. Every breath wracked her body with pain, but she held on.

She had been so stupid! She had received a communication inviting her to a diplomatic meeting where she was to keep the peace. Seeing it as yet another way to fulfill her duty as a Jedi, she had agreed. Seri had warned her that something was odd about it. She should have listened! Now she lay here, her blood soaking her clothes, pooling on the floor beneath her. The timer ticked downward, 30…29…28…

She had arrived to find, not a conference, but a well planned trap. Strewn throughout the building were long, slimy creatures. Tyrani recognized them instantly. They were yslamiri, and they were every Jedi's nightmare. The reason not being because of size or strength, but because of a unique natural ability; they created a bubble in which the force could not exist! Just one of them created a bubble ten meters across, and there were dozens of them strewn about. Thus cut off from her power, she had not sensed the attack coming.

A single tear rolled down her cheek as more blood flowed from the gash in her abdomen. The red light blinked on and off, and the timer counted downward, 15…14…13…

He had been swift and merciless. Swooping down from a rafter he had attacked, dodging her awkward blows, which, without the force, we in vain. Then he saw his opening. He plunged his vibroblade into her stomach, and then yanked it out violently, slamming the side of his blaster into her head as he did so. Dazed by the blow, she fell to the ground.

She came back to the present as the timer reached zero. She watched as the little red light blinked once more, and then her whole world exploded into a million shards of blinding brilliance.
