Harry had set off to retrieve the Horcruxes after the first part of his seventh year at Hogwarts. Molly and Arthur had made him promise to start the school year before leaving in search of them, and he stuck to that promise. Ron, Hermione and Ginny followed him, even though he said he didn't want them to. They decided they couldn't let him go alone. The four of them were currently staying in an abandoned shed for the night.

"No, no. Tom, please stop. Stop!" Ginny cried in her sleep. Her frantic cries woke Harry, who immediately rushed to her side.

"Ginny, wake up." He gently shook her shoulder. "Gin, wake up. It's okay, you're just dreaming." She rapidly sat up, and realizing where she was, started crying. Harry took her in his arms and whispered in her ear until she'd calmed down.

She slowly pulled back from him. "I'm sorry," she whispered shyly, not looking him in the eye.

"You alright?" He asked her worriedly.

"Yeah, it was just a dream. I've been having them a lot lately."

"Dreams about the Chamber?"

"Yeah. I've had them since my second year at Hogwarts and they were occurring less frequently, but they've started again." She said quietly.

"You should never have come on this. You wouldn't be having these dreams otherwise. Gin, I don't want you-"

"Harry," she cut him off. "I wanted to come. I needed to come. If I hadn't, I'd be at school worrying about you all the time. I wouldn't be having nightmares about the Chamber. But I would be having nightmares about what's happening to you. I needed to be with you, even if you didn't want me to." She was crying by this point.

"Ginny, you know I never wanted you not to be here with me. You know that I wanted to be with you no matter what. But you keep getting hurt and it's my fault. Gin, I hate seeing you like this. All the nightmares when we get sleep, all the cuts and scars you get from helping me in the fights, it's all my fault. I can't bear to see you like this. I want to protect you but there's no way I can when we're out here. I don't want you to get hurt."

"But I have to be here. I have to help you, Harry. If I lost you when I could've done something to protect you..." she trailed off, trying not to cry to loudly as not to wake her brother and his girlfriend.

"Gin, you won't. Not today, at least. I'm right here, I'm not going anywhere." And with that, he kissed her and whispered, "I love you" into her ear.

They slowly started to drift off to sleep and the last thing he remembers hearing that night was "I love you, Harry."
