Hello everyone it's the Reality Shredder and I've been thinking about Steven Universe lately, mostly because the movie is coming in the Fall. More specially, I've been thinking about Jasper. Because spoiler warning for Change Your Mind for those who haven't seen it. At the end the aforementioned episode, Steven, after finally getting through to White Diamond, he, alongside the other Crystal Gems and the other three Diamonds, return to Earth and using the healing properties of Rose's fountain and corruption reversal powers of White, Yellow and Blue Diamonds. The four of them were able to finally heal the corrupted gems, including Jasper. End of the spoiler alert.

Anyway, I've been thinking about the future of Jasper's character. I've been thinking a lot of where could the ultimate quartz's future could go. So I went to the Steven Universe Tv Trope WMG page for future episodes and plots and I found one possibility for the misunderstood character. It says:

After recent revelations, Jasper will become disillusioned with the Diamonds' cause and rebel against them.

First, she learns that Rose Quartz, her most hated enemy, is actually her beloved leader Pink Diamond. Which results in her renouncing her out of anger.

Next, she finds out that the rest of the Diamonds were responsible for the corrupted Gems and not the Earth like she believed; causing her to think that they built up her strength and loyalty for nothing.

What serves as the final straw is when they start changing the order she so strictly adhered to; from having every Gem stick solely to their intended purpose to being able to choose to be whatever they want.

Outraged, Jasper severs ties with the Great Diamond Authority and stages a coup. With the intent of overthrowing the Diamonds and keeping the order the way it is; deeming them false rulers that shamelessly abuse their power.

This is interesting. Now let's dissect this paragraph piece by piece with my thoughts shall we.

I think that when she finds out that Rose Quartz, her most hated adversary and Pink Diamond, her beloved leader, were the same person the whole time and she faked her shattering. She's going to go through the 5 stages of grief which are denial, anger, bargaining, depression and finally acceptance. But under different circumstances of course.

As for renouncing her out of anger, I can kinda see it happening because she was being manipulated by both her beloved leader and her most hated enemy since her creation.

Then when she finds out that the Diamonds caused the Gem Corruption instead of Earth, she probably going to think "It may not be this garbage planet but they deserved it for not getting off of it in time. But still... I don't know if they deserved it." This will be especially cathartic considering what she told Steven, Amethyst and Peridot back in Earthlings:

"You suffer because it's what what you deserve."

"We all only get what we deserve."

Jasper will think that they have built up her strength and loyalty for nothing after finding out the truth because of these lines:

"Every Gem is made for a purpose. To serve the order of the Diamonds. Those who cannot fit inside this order, must be purged!"

"To come out misshapen, to reshape yourself outside your purpose, and to defend this ruined, worthless planet is a disgrace!"

Next when she finds out that the Diamonds are changing their rules for individuality. She's not going to take that lying down and it will serve the straw that broke her back.

And it would be interesting if Jasper does turn on them for abusing her loyalty for basically nothing. I see her definitely staging her own rebellion against the Diamonds especially considering that she disregarded her mission to check on the Cluster. And I figured that she won't be alone either, I imagine that other Homeworld Gems like Nephrite, Aquamarine, Emerald, Holly Blue Agate, the Ruby Squad and any other Homeworld gem, would join her cause because I would imagine that they wouldn't conform to the sudden change because of this line that she said in The Return:

"Forget about the mission!"

It could be very interesting if she does go down this route but who knows, we'll have to wait and see

Now onto some character interactions I can see happening:

Amethyst- Now that Jasper is semi healed, I can see that defective runt can help Jasper work through her issues of now being "defective" because of the remnants of her corruption. Especially after the events of Earthlings. The two Earth quartzes are technically sisters. Because both of them are going through similar issues. Also:

"Us worst Gems stick together."

"C'mere sis."

Garnet- I honestly think that Jasper will refuse to listen to that "shameless display" at first because of her rage, hatred, and confusion of why Ruby and Sapphire decided to stay permanently fused. She will feel complete and utter jealousy because of Ruby and Sapphire's relationship/fusion because of this roasting, but ultimately sad, and true line Garnet said during their fight in Jailbreak:

"I can see you hate the way we intermingle. But I think you're just mad cause' you're single!"

And as savage as the line is, it's ultimately true. Garnet has comrades who love and respect her as a leader and is literally in love with herself. Jasper on the other hand, has no one to look toward since the rebellion's end, not her Diamond since she's gone now, not Lapis and Peridot, because their now Crystal Gems and have accepted Earth as their home or her fellow quartzes so she's incredibly lonely. Her loneliness is summed up with this line she said in Earthlings:

"Nobody I fuse with ever wants to stay..."

Don't worry Jasper, you'll find someone. Just keep looking.

Lapis Lazuli- Good Christ, that's gonna be incredibly awkward because as I mentioned before, Lapis is now a Crystal Gem. I feel that she would think: "Hmm, I always knew that you were a traitor Brat, but I never got confirmation for it until now."

Anyway, I feel that Jasper would want to stay away from Lapis as much as possible because of her PTSD of their abusive relationship and her lust for power from being Malachite. Now taking into account of Jasper's aforementioned loneliness and her intentional and unknowing vendetta against the Crystal Gems, Lapis was the closest thing she had to anything to something positive since she's stranded on Earth, consent be damned. I honestly hope that they don't fix their relationship. They can fight alongside each other but don't try to fix their relationship Crewniverse. Just please don't. With their respective, traumatic pasts, they are really bad for each other, as they have too much red or pieces in this case, in their ledger. Looking at you Alone at Sea.

Bismuth- Bismuth is pretty a foil to Jasper, both of them are big, muscular Gems who love to fight. They wanted to destroy their respective enemies by any means necessary. But thanks to Rose's actions they were pretty much destroyed on the inside because of the war, so I can kinda see them connecting on that. Be a lot of prejudice but still.

Peridot-Considering their begrudging past, I don't see them getting along at first, but I think they could start to warm up to each other. Not in a ship way, but a friendship way because of one thing they have in common: Their massive egos.

Pearl- Right off the bat, I can see Jasper not be willing to listen to the "lost, defective, Pearl" because of the caste system. But after Pearl will try to get through to her because they have one thing in common:

Pink Diamond.

I can see Pearl try to help Jasper understand why Pink loved the Earth so much that she faked her shattering, fought against herself and indirectly caused the Gem Corruption. I can also Pearl and Jasper understand each other the most. Even more so than Lapis, Peridot, Bismuth, or Amethyst could.

and finally...

Steven- I feel like once she gets past the whole "my Diamond" phase. Jasper would be like a remorseful bodyguard for Steven, it would be humorous to watch honestly. As for Steven, I can see him trying to help Jasper get used to the peaceful times that they're now in and help her realize that not every day has to be a fight for your life or training and teach her how to have fun.

Personally, I think she would not be a Crystal Gem but not antagonistic to them anymore.

Anyway, what are you're thoughts on this. Please let me know on what do you guys think about on what they should do with Jasper. See you guys later.
