A/N My first shot at a Calvin and Hobbes fic.
Disclaimer: I don not own any Calvin and Hobbes characters.
The light turned red and I stopped. I'm in no hurry.
Sure, I may in my seventies, but that doesn't mean I don't have time to stop and slow down. This was my fifth year of retirement and I was milking it for all it's those years of teaching had made me realize how short life really was. The kids I had taught were grown up, some in high school.
I looked out my window to the left. A popular ice cream shop with large glass front windows was filled with kids who had wanted a cool sweet after school.A young boy and girl who were sitting at the counter that faced the window caught my eye. They sat on stools next to each other, the boy grinned at the girl adoringly while the girl scowled.
I knew them both. In fact I had taught them in elementary school. The boy had spiky blonde hair and deep blue eyes. He had a muscled yet, lean and tall build. His features had sharpened as he turned into a young man in high school and he was quite handsome.
The girl had a slim petite figure, filled out with nice curves. She had long, wavy brown hair and big, grey eyes. She at least a half foot shorter than the what I had learned from a high school teacher I kept in touch with, the girl received straight As most of the time. The boy was passing by the skin of his teeth. The boy pestered the girl constantly, while the girl was rather quiet.
The girl seemed to be refusing flirtatious attempts made by the boy. He said something with a large grin and the girl rolled her eyes.
I looked back to the traffic light. Still red.
My eyes again wondered and I did a double take as my eyes fell on the young duo.
The boy had leaned forward and was kissing the girl's lips, his hand on her back. What was even a bigger surprise was that the girl was kissing back, her arms around his neck and a blush shading her cheeks.
While who would have thought, Calvin and Susie...
