Stardate: 2380

Location: Spacedock, above Earth

Time: 13:30pm

Vasquez stared at the masterpiece in front of him. He was in awe of the ship, the bright lights, and the size of it all. The stars wrapped around the ship, twinkling and adding to the ship's exquisiteness. Shuttles swam back and forth to the ship, loading it with its equipment, its crew. Vasquez took a step closer to the window and placed his hand on the glass, his face beaming in excitement.

'Are you ready Sir?' a fresh faced cadet asked him, handing him a PADD. 'Please sign her Captain Vasquez, she is ready for you.' Captain Vasquez signed the PADD and passed it back to the cadet. 'This way, sir', she said, showing him to the shuttle.

Captains log, stardate 2380. It's good to be back on a ship. It's refreshing, I feel like I am home. We await our mission from Starfleet Command and are in Spacedock ready to leave. I have chosen Commander Zina as my first officer.

His voice trailed away as he thought about Zina. Good choice, he thought to himself and smiled. He rubbed his eyes and yawned. I should have got more sleep last night, he said to himself as he requested a coffee from the replicator. Coffee with milk, no sugar. He turned and saw Commander Zina at his door, her brown hair tied up in a high ponytail, holding a sabre and dressed in fencing gear. He picked up the coffee cup and walked towards his desk which was pilled with books and research papers. 'Still doing that jabbing game?' he Vasquez asked her, smirking. 'It's not jabbing, it's fencing' she told him- as she walked up to him, lunged and thrusted the sabre at his chest. 'En garde!' she shouted, and she flicked the sabre to hit his chin. Vasquez stood there, slightly taken a back at her new found confidence.

'I remember you fencing fad at the Academy, only thing you looked forward too,' he raised his eyebrow, 'it seems you still have that fad...'

'It's not a fad Michael, I like it' she stated defensively. 'The programs on the holodeck are good, they help me train why I am away from shore.'

'Indeed,' he paused as his communicator beeped, 'Captain, we are receiving a transmission from Spacedock,' Lieutenant Niphyloth stated, 'putting it through to you Sir.'

'Captain Vasquez, everything is boarded and complete. You are clear to leave Spacedock,' the operator said. 'Starbase 24 is awaiting you. Spacedock, out.'

'The bridge awaits us Z,' the Captain said.

'Captain on the bridge' Niphyloth shouted and everyone took their place, standing straight in salute at Captain Vasquez. 'Take your stations,' Vasquez commanded as he took his seat. 'Lieutenant Westerbeck, warp speed to Starbase 24. Take her out.'
