1. Chapter 1

1. PILOT (MULDER)

She comes to my room in the dark, distressed. Takes off her silk dressing gown, revealing nothing but modest white undergarments underneath. I am surprised to say the least – this from the professional, reserved Agent Scully I've only just met!

Then, understanding. She wants me to examine two nodules she's found on her lower back. Squinting in the candlelight, I see just mosquito bites.

Relief makes her duck her head against my chest, and when I feel her petite form against me, one thing is clear.

My job is never going to be the same again. I have a partner.
