Disclaimer: I do not own Yu-Gi-Oh!
Well, here it is. My first Shounen-ai one-shot. I need to watch some of the anime again, as I'm not sure when this would take place.
Of Necklaces and Kisses
Yugi sighed. That moment just keeps replaying in his mind. Not even the Christmas finery, the green and red decorations that spotted the walls could bring him to a smile. He had spent weeks looking for it, finally found it, and now this.
Anzu opens the silvery paper with a fervor, while Yugi watches excited and anxious. He just new she would like this. She pulls a necklace made of pink and black gems on a silver chain out of the box.
"It's so pretty, Yugi!" Anzu lays the necklace on her neck, linking it in the back.
Yugi grins, it had been the only present he had been able to afford this year, as he wanted her to see how much she cared for him and it seems to be working.
Anzu jumps up and hugs him. "You're a great friend, Yugi! This will match my dress perfectly."
Yugi just smiles at her.
A great friend. He should have known that's all he was.
Yami walks in and with a glance at his light, whose whole posture screams defeated and depressed, and he took a seat next to him on the couch.
"Yugi, are you alright?" Yami lays a light hand on Yugi's shoulder.
Yugi stares at the ground and shakes his hand.
"Did Anzu not like her gift?"
"She did."
"Then what's wrong."
Shrugging, Yugi says "Absolutely nothing should be."
Yami squeezes Yugi's shoulder, "Should be and are tend to be different. What's wrong?"
"I'm just her friend."
"Anzu's?" Taking his silence as a yes, Yami continues. "It'll be alright. You'll find someone else."
Yugi stares at the Christmas tree, at the silver ornaments dangling from it. "There can't be anyone else. I thought we were made to be together. There's no one else who might like me."
Yami struggles not to smile while he shakes his head, "You sound too much like a girl to me right now."
Glaring at Yami, he crosses his arms over his chest. "Well then, leave me alone."
Yami laughs, "I'm afraid I can't do that."
"Why not?"
"Because I have this." Yami hands his light a medium sized box, wrapped in green paper covered in gold and red bells.
Opening it gently, Yugi pulls the paper off slowly, enjoying the process. Lifting the box's lid he stares into the box with wide eyes.
"Do you like it?"
Nodding, he pulls out the foot tall, Dark Magician doll.
"I love it. Thank you so much!"
Yami laughs. "Your welcome."
Yugi starts to get up from the couch, when Yami speaks up.
"And Yugi?"
He gazes up at him. "Yes?"
"There is someone who loves you."
Yugi opens his mouth to question his statement, when Yami leans down and presses his lips softly against Yugi's forehead.
"Really?" Yugi asks.
A smile graces Yami's lips, "Really."
