Title: I Love You Still and Always Will
Summary: Nick surprises Abby on Valentine's Day.
"Shh, you'll wake her!"
"That's the understatement of the century!"
"He's right. For someone who is hyper and bouncy, Abby sleeps like a log."
"Have you finished?"
"Almost,"
There was a silent pause, before someone announced. "Finished!"
"OK, let's get out of here, before she wakes up,"
The floorboards creaked ever so slightly, and as the door shut with a snap Abby jolted awake and sat up straight, a playful and childlike smile slid onto her face as she noticed flashes of red contrasted against the whiteness of her bed sheets.
Rose petals.
Abby giggled as she scooped up a handful of petals, tossed them into the air and watched as they fluttered down all around her.
She closed her eyes and enjoyed the sweet smell of rose petals floating her whole room.
And she still couldn't believe it! He hadn't forgotten this special day.
Thinking hard, she couldn't remember smelling something wonderful like that before.
Sinking back onto the soft pillow she wished the amazing smell and the rose petals would stay forever and never fade away.
Unfortunately they would, but what would stay behind would be the man she loved.
And despite all the work and the small time left to themselves, he had managed to think about something and surprise her. That made the start into this day even more perfect.
The door opened and Spencer walked in carrying a breakfast tray full of coffee, eggs and toast. "Is that giggling I hear?" he asked.
"Yes," Abby answered, throwing more petals into the air. "I am guilty of giggling and being very happy,"
"Ah, Rose petals," Spencer smiled. "The essence of love."
Abby grinned. "The sure sign that it is Valentine's Day," she replied, scooping up more rose petals and throwing them into the air.
"February 14th," Spencer nodded. "Happy Valentine's Day, Miss. Abby"
"Thank you, Spencer," Abby replied
Spencer smiled. "When you have finished your breakfast, there is another surprise downstairs for you."
"Oh? Can't you tell me?"
"Nope, that would ruin the surprise," the butler tapped the side of his nose, winked and left the room.
Abby chewed her lower lips, gazed down at the rose petals and fell, giggling, back onto her pillows.
~*Abby*~
Just as Spencer had suggested, Abby finished her breakfast, and hurried down the many stairs into the game room of Hartford mansion.
The room was empty, save for a single, long-stemmed pink and white flower that lay absently on the mantelpiece. There was a small card propped up beside it, and it was addressed to her.
Abby picked up the card and flipped it over to read.
I love you still and always will.
Love Nick.
Abby bit her lip to suppress a squeal.
"And I mean it," said a familiar voice from the door.
Abby paused and looked around; Nick Russell was standing on the threshold of the games room.
"I mean it, Abby," he repeated. "I love you."
With a smile, Abby crossed the room and threw her arms around him. Nick caught her, spun her around, and as he set her down, leaned in to kiss her.
"I love you too," Abby answered, pulling out of the kiss. "And I always will."

I would just like to thank fallingstar22 for her help and inspiration in writing this one-shot. I'm not a hopeless romantic, and therefore have trouble writing romance stories and scenes, but her story "Valentine Surprise" inspired me to write a little something for everyone's favourite ranger couple.
I hope you enjoyed.
